It’s been a decade and 18 movies since the first Marvel movie “Iron Man” was released in 2008, Marvel has truly come a long way. The MCU is now the biggest and most profitable cinematic properties in the history of Hollywood. And now, Avengers Infinity War is just 2.5 months away. The celebration of Marvel’s 10 years is so close to us. This movie will mark the coming of the greatest, the biggest and the ‘baddest’ villain we have ever seen in the MCU, and possibly in cinema. Thanos will be to us what Darth Vader was to the fans of the original Trilogy.
Thanos is being set up since the first Avengers movie and he will come with a bang, leaving us all shocked! Still, we have got only a few moments of him on screen as the two teasers did not give us a lot of Thanos. Other than that, we have only seen him in the post-credits scene, and in one Guardians moment. Rest he’s been a blur, sitting in his chair far away in the Galaxy.
He is the true devil, as he will come to collect, collect the gems of infinite power, which are the Infinity Stones. The Power Gem, The Soul Gem, The Space Gem, The Reality Gem, The Mind Gem and The Time Gem, all these are going to be in Thanos’ possession at some point of time as he will collect them on his Infinity Gauntlet. He has already got hold of two of these gems as we saw in the first trailer.
What fans noticed in these two teasers was that Thanos is missing a huge chunk of his body. We cannot find Thanos’ battle armor in these teasers and all the other times we saw him in the MCU, we were wearing it whether he was sitting, standing or even grabbing the gauntlet. Funny, how he wears it every time except the time he is actually going for battle.
According to the directors of the movie Joe and Anthony Russo, this time we do not see him in his armor is because he has got the power of the gauntlet and he doesn’t feel the need of to wear any armor to give him some sort of assistance or protection in Battle. Here’s what Joe Russo said about this matter.
“He has a more casual approach in this film and it’s very philosophical for him. It’s part of his character definition. It’s a spiritual journey for him to collect the [Infinity] Stones and one with which he does not need armor. Once he starts acquiring the Stones he doesn’t require armor the same way he did when he was a warlord. It’s a very symbolic costume.”
Well, even if he gets stronger, the look of Thanos is incomplete without his armor and his head piece. So they might fulfill that for us as that gives Thanos the real, royal powerful look which I suppose we will get at some point in the movie. To confirm that, a new Thanos action figure has made its way to the market as we can see Thanos wearing his armor in this particular toy. Here has a look.
Well toys are a part of the marketing of a movie. So many times, lego sets and certain action figures have given away the real look of things that are going to come in the movies. So by the looks of this particular action figure, we would surely get to see Thanos in his entire gear at some point of the movie.
As the director said that collecting all the stones, he would not feel the need of any armor, well what if the Avengers somehow manage to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos towards the end, in order to set up Avengers 4, and it is then when Thanos gets his armor back on in the very end of the movie. That seems probable. It could also be right towards the beginning of the movie or in some flashback scene related to Thanos. Who knows, we will just have to wait and watch out for it.
