Legends of Tomorrow Midseason Premiere Synopsis Confirmed Constantine’s Arrival

With a massively acclaimed ongoing season 3, Legends of Tomorrow has finally made it to the actual benchmark worthy of an Arrowverse show. It is definitely one of the coolest superhero shows on CW.

The team of outcasts from the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow TV Show finally found their calling. This includes scientist, a mechanic, an assassin, a couple of arsonists joined forces against immortal tyrants and deadly legions hell-bent on destruction.

Using comedy, action, Easter eggs and hilarious character interactions along with a rotating cast and fresher plot elements, the Legends of Tomorrow could be arguably considered the best Arrowverse show this season.

Season 1 and 2 were truly mediocre. The former saw the team fighting Vandal Savage, an immortal Egyptian warrior while the latter saw the Legends fighting the Legion of Doom – Eobard Thawne, Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk. The stakes were high in both seasons but it never looked like it.

The Legends season 1 and Season 2 had mediocrity crept into the storylines and it was affecting its viewership and ratings as a primetime television show.

It was only Season 3 that helped us realize that the Legends truly are a superhero team. They have the drama, the action and the pace along with a truly villainous Big Bad in Season 3. Mallus is on a rampage. And not even the Time Bureau (successor to the Time Masters) is capable enough to stop him. This is where the Legends come in.

While we only had a Glimpse of Mallus in Season 3, we could not see his face in that particular episode. But we may not just yet get that chance even in the upcoming one. John Constantine is back, ladies and gentlemen. And he is about to join the Legends of Tomorrow on their whacky, out of time adventures.

The synopsis for the upcoming episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has finally been revealed. And it tells something really interesting. The episode will not only include John’s reason for asking the Legends for help, it will also explore more hidden details about the crew of the Waverider.

It is confirmed by the makers that Constantine will appear in Legends of Tomorrow for a specific plot but this time the show will also show his bi-sexuality.  Here’s the official statement released by the NBC:

“As for the character of Constantine, we knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends.”

Klemmer, a studio executive described Constantine’s arrival as “The Exorcist meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest“. Here is what he said:

“His appearance will involve the following: a revisiting of ‘Arrow’ season four and the events following that season’s finale episode; a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on Legends, Mallus; some hot sex; and Damien Darhk, because how can you do an episode about dark magic and not have Damien Darhk?”

Constantine had only one season before it was canceled by its network. The show, even though short-lived, had garnered a huge fan following and an almost cult-like status. So the character of Constantine was given a ticket to the larger Arrowverse shows.

John Constantine made a guest appearance in Arrow Season 4 as one of Oliver’s old acquaintances. He helped restore a Lazarus Pit resurrected, bloodthirsty Sarah Lance back to her normal self. At that point of time, Marc Guggenheim, the show’s producer had this to say:

“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired”. “The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.” He guest starred in the fifth episode of Arrow season 4 titled “Haunted” where he used his special skills and helped Green Arrow restore Sara’s soul to her body”.

The character is about to get its own animated TV series via CW Seed which the showrunners claim will have an even darker tone than the live action series. The actor Matt Ryan will reprise his role of an exorcist, a demon hunter in a new series produced by David S. Goyer, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. It is expected to hit the TV screens in the second half of 2018. Here’s the official synopsis for the show:

“This all-new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and Blue Ribbon Content follows DC’s popular comic book character John Constantine (voiced by the live-action series star Matt Ryan), a seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult. Armed with an arcane knowledge of the dark arts and a wicked wit, he fights the good fight. With his soul already damned to hell, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine uses his skills to face the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all”.

Constantine is all set to appear in the Midseason premiere of Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 next month. But the question on everybody’s mind right now is – What the hell is DC’s premium foul-mouthed demonologist doing in the Waverider.

The CW has released an official synopsis for the upcoming episode. The story for the next episode will involve the Legends helping Constantine after one of his clients finds himself in danger.

Two Legends will end up getting lost along with Constantine during the subsequent exorcism while Amaya and Nate again find themselves at odds with Amaya’s big bad granddaughter Kuasa. The official synopsis reads:

After Sara’s (Caity Lotz) encounter with Mallus, the Legends are paid a visit by John Constantine (guest star Matt Ryan), a demonologist detective.

The Legends agree to accompany him to a present-day psychiatric hospital and they are surprised to discover who Constantine is trying to help.

During the exorcism, Sara, Leo (guest star Wentworth Miller) and Constantine go missing, leaving Ray (Brandon Routh) and Zari (Tala Ashe) to try to take care of Constantine’s client.

Meanwhile, Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Nate (Nick Zano) once again come face to face with Kuasa. Dominic Purcell also stars.

The Episode is titled ‘Daddy Darhkestso it is safe to assume it has something to do with Damien Darhk. After his death at the end of Arrow Season 4, he was again resurrected by his own daughter Nora via mystical means.

We only see a younger version of Nora in Arrow. Could the mystery patient the Legends are hoping to exorcise be Nora Darhk? It could most certainly make for some interesting food for thought.

Whether Constantine stays as a regular or a temporary member of the Legends, we are just happy that Matt Ryan’s ass is back on the small screens. He has an electrifying presence and someday DC will realize that Constantine is much more than cameos. Here’s to hoping it will be EPIC!!!!!
