Recently, Warner Bros. announced an animation movie based on popular cartoon network series “Teen Titans”. Well, the studio has confirmed that they have begun finalizing different aspects of the film including casting. For instance, Kristen Bell (Frozen) may be brought into the fold in addition to Will Arnett (who voices Batman in Lego movies). The title of the movie is Teen Titans Go! Movie
Teen Titans is an amazingly well-received series. The comics went on to be such a big success after the 1980’s that there came an animated series too, which was also phenomenal. But there are still some things about the show which the fans are not aware of.
Teen Titans and Young Justice are two different teams. Where both the teams have Wonder Girl, Robin and a speedster in common, there are quite a few differences. Young Justice came into the scene in 1990’s, with Wonder Girl and Bart Allen’s Impulse and many more heroes such as Aqualad, Superboy, Speedy and Miss Martian.
Contrary to the belief that the team was assembled by Robin as he is their leader, the Teen Titans were actually formed by Raven. It was when Raven was created by her evil father and comes to Earth, at the time when Starfire is on the run from intergalactic slavers, Raven manages to get Cyborg, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Robin and Changeling (Beast Boy) to help rescue her.
Robin’s name was changed to Nightwing in the pages of the Teen Titans comics. It was in here, where the sidekick to Batman and the leader of the Teen Titans felt like he should have his own identity and the freedom to call his own shots. Which is when he put off his red yellow and green colored costume and donned his new look. Every Robin has been involved in the Teen Titans. Dick Grayson was a founding member, Jason Todd had a run too as did Stephanie Brown, even after being distrusted by Superboy, tim Drake became the Red Robin and for Damian Wayne it was an exercise to help him socialise and learn to work with a team.
The Titans developed trust issues with Dick Grayson when they came to know that he had been teaching Deathstroke’s daughter for years. Deathstroke, the recurring enemy for the Titans gave his word to Nightwing that he’d keep off the Titans if he would agree to teach his daughter, to which Dick agreed. Deathstroke had already lost a son to the Titans. The bombshell was a member of the Teen Titans with almost the same powers as Captain Atom, the character had a history of crime, and is also easily enraged, even still the team took her in. She started becoming trustworthy, but naah, she couldn’t change and in the end betrayed the Teen Titans.
Connor Kent, the Superboy, who with the help of his best friend Tim Drake got to know that he was created by using 50% of Superman’s and 50% of Lex Luthor’s DNA, when flipped a switch, his personality drastically changed. Where he shaved his head, carved an ‘L’ on his chest and attacked his team, including Wondergirl, his lover and broke Drake’s arm.
There are two great storylines that they can consider:
In Geoff John’s amazing storyline, ‘The Future Is Now’ there is a time in the future, where it is good to see Tim Drake has taken on the mantle of Batman, but what’s surprising to see is that he’s taken up guns, not only that the once Asylum, Arkham was now a cemetery, having the graves of all the fallen heroes and the villains that he had killed. In another Teen Titans storyline, Terra was not only working for Deathstroke but also having a physical relationship with him. Using the information that he got from Terra, Deathstroke breaks the team. Not only that, it was also difficult to see Beast Boy devastated, who by the time had developed serious feelings for Terra.
The movie is scheduled to release on July 27, 2018. The movie will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail, screenplay written by Michael Jelenic and Horvath.
