Every powerful hero must have a strong villain. When it comes to a fantasy series, the number would just go up. There are many villains or evil characters that came into a squabble with Harry Potter throughout the series. Let’s take a look at the countdown of the top 10 most evil Harry Potter villains.
Yaxley
Yaxley is a death eater monster who took part in wizarding wars one and two along with Lord Voldemort. Just like most of the Voldemort’s supporters, Yaxley also strongly supported pure-blood wizards and hated both the mud bloods and half-bloods. Yaxley helped Voldemort in infiltrating the Ministry of Magic as he was the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione stole the locket from Dolores Umbridge, Yaxley went into a head-to-head fight with the trio.
Professor Quirrell
Appearances can be misleading and that’s exactly the case with Professor Quirrell. No one would have imagined him to be the main villain of the first film (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone). In his whole life, he searched for Lord Voldemort to learn new magic from him. Professor Quirrell made several attempts to kill Harry and ultimately he met up with his demise.
Fenrir Greyback
Fenrir Greyback is one of the most dangerous supporters of Lord Voldemort. He was a werewolf and haunted many people to turn them into werewolves. He always wanted to create an army of werewolves to rule the world and he preferred children more. Being a Semi-Death eater and half-breed, he was hated by almost all the Death Eaters. He was also hated for his sexual abnormalities.
Lucius Malfoy
Lucius Malfoy is a death eater and we saw him trying to ruin Arthur Weasley’s career in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He was a cruel dogmatist who always wanted the superiority and domination of Pure Bloods. Voldemort sent him to reclaim the prophecy in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and he participated in the battle of the Department of Mysteries to reclaim the prophecy. After realizing the fact that the second wizarding war was lost, he absconded from Voldemort.
Barty Crouch Jr.
Barty Crouch Jr. was a Death Eater and he was the one responsible for bringing the Dark Lord (Voldemort) back to life in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We also saw him disguised as Alastor Moody to infiltrate Hogwarts as he wanted to exploit the Triwizard Tournament. He did so to make Harry win the tournament and he wanted Harry to get transferred to the Little Hangleton graveyard. Even after his first defeat, he remained as one of the loyal supporters of Lord Voldemort.
Peter Pettigrew
Peter Pettigrew is a menacing villain and can be considered as a catalyst for the entire Harry Potter series as he betrayed James and Lilly Potter by disclosing their locale to Lord Voldemort which eventually resulted in their deaths. He also framed his friend Sirius Black by faking his own death and it resulted in the arrest of Black and his imprisonment in Azkaban. He also played a pivotal role in bringing back Voldemort to his physical form.
Draco Malfoy
Even though, Lord Voldemort is undoubtedly the main antagonist of the entire Harry Potter series, Draco Malfoy and Harry are the biggest rivals. As he is from a prominent magical family, he continuously vexed Hermione for being a mud blood. Even though he became a pathetic character towards the end of the series, his rivalry between Harry can be never forgotten and he was always a big problem for Harry.
Dolores Jane Umbridge
Dolores Jane Umbridge was corrupt, cunning, and brutal and was the main villain of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Umbridge was appointed to Hogwarts by Cornelius Fudge (Minister of Magic) to serve as a spy and we saw her deliberately and brutally torturing Harry and the other students for no reason. She was later removed from her position by Albus Dumbledore. She was then assigned as the in charge of the Muggle-born Registration Commission.
Bellatrix Lestrange
Bellatrix Lestrange is undoubtedly the most loyal supporter of Lord Voldemort ever. She was also one of the dreadful and filthiest characters in the entire series. He happily participated in the torture of the Longbottom family, even though, Voldemort tasted defeat afterward. Despite being placed in Azkaban, she remained humble and loyal to Voldemort. She later escapes the prison and murders Sirius Black. She was also responsible for the death of Dobby and mercilessly tortured Hermione and Neville.
Lord Voldemort
Who else would be in the number one spot other than the Dark Lord himself? Lord Voldemort was present in the entire series from the beginning (Murdering Harry’s parents) and to the end (waged war on Hogwarts). He took every turn to destroy Harry and wanted to purge the magical world of anyone (especially the Mixed Blood) he considered incongruous. The evil characteristics of Voldemort are present in every villain listed above and are unarguably one of the finest villains of all time.
