Marvel and DC comics fans are passionate about their respective superheroes and believe that they are invincible and will always triumph no matter what. Some of the age-old rivalries include Iron Man v Batman; Flash v Quick Silver, Hawkeye v Green Arrow; Thor v Superman etc. Recently, at a popular comic-book forum, writers and enthusiasts were discussing the possible battle between the Hulk and Superman. The first response of most of the comic-book readers will be that it’s not even a fair fight. Superman will win hands down, but it’s not really that simple.
To think this through, the Marvel writer Greg Pak provided much-needed perspective before deciding upon the winner. He laid down the circumstances which will determine whether Hulk or Superman would win. He said:
“My honest answer is that, if all they’re doing is fighting, Hulk will win, because Hulk is the strongest one there is. The angrier he gets, no matter how strong Superman is, Hulk can get stronger if you make him mad enough.”
He clearly sided with Hulk if Superman only fights without studying the weaknesses of Hulk. But if he becomes more than a fighter than only he can overwhelm him not through his Kryptonian strength but with his intelligence (which is quite rare in the case of Superman). He has been outsmarted by Lex Luthor many times before. He added:
“Superman, being who he is, will not just make his enemy angry. Also, Superman, Clark, would take the time to figure out what’s going on and try to diffuse the situation. Clark doesn’t just charge into battle and start fighting people for the hell of it. He doesn’t lose control in that kind of way. And if he does, he comes back. So Clark would win by eventually finding a way to reach the hulk and diffuse him, and the Hulk would turn back into Bruce Banner.”
