Justice League is DC Extended Universe’s diamond in the rough, the center that may hold the reigns for every character introduction that comes after it. Or so you would think if the studio will follow the paths of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wonder Woman, who makes her solo film debut concentrated more on what her beginnings were, but had the opportunity to be a fully fledged character when she first appeared in Batman Vs Superman.
Since all other solo projects will be released after Justice League, their solo films will no doubt have connections with the prevalent team.
Cinema Blend interviewed Charles Roven, a producer in DCEU where they discussed the possibilities of a tie in with the team in the upcoming Aquaman movie. Roven said:
“Aquaman will make reference [to Justice League]. There will be some reference of something that preceded Aquaman that will be in Aquaman. I believe that is the intention.”
Roven further discussed how the possibility of a solo film could only happen after the release of Justice League.
Since the narration of Batman Vs Superman triggered the formation of the team and was further insinuated in Suicide Squad, it’s doubtful that any origin stories can be focused on, as many of the characters have already been introduced into their superhero roles.
” James [Wan] definitely knows where he’s going with [Aquaman], and that movie takes place in a world where Justice League happened, and Man of Steel happened, and Wonder Woman obviously takes place before Man of Steel — except for the bookends we have. So that’s where we have the most ability to freeform. We could do a movie that takes place after Justice League, we can do a movie that takes place after Batman v Superman… well not really. You can’t do a movie in between Batman v Superman and Justice League, but we can do movies that take place after Justice League and we can do movies that precede Justice League.”
