Marvel Debunks A Major Fan Theory Related To Thor: Ragnarok

The upcoming movie in the Marvel cinematic universe is Thor Ragnarok. It is inspired by Jack Kirby’s Ragnarok comic wherein Asgard is burned to the ground and is rebuilt from the ashes. Thor is the God of Thunder, heir to the throne and protector of the realm. He stands for good and what is right while his brother is mischievous and cunning. But there have been many questions raised by the elders of the universe on whether Thor is worthy of taking Odin’s place in Asgard. Now, he will confront an empowered Loki and Hela forces (Guardian of Hell) and he has to prove himself to be worthy of Odin’s powers and pave the way for the rebirth of Asgardian society.

Recently, the new official Thor: Ragnarok trailer was released which created a flutter on social media. It was shown that Hela is now in possession of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir and he is banished to Planet Sakaar where he will participate in gladiator games organized by the Grandmaster.

The trailer also featured an armor which is similar to “The Tester” i.e one of Marvel’s powerful celestials. Another Celestial featured in MCU when Collector was explaining the forces guiding the realm, he mentioned “The Searcher”. These are ancient beings which date back to the beginning of the universe. In comics, there is a very powerful armor known as “Godkiller” which transfers the powers of celestials to the person who wears it. There is a speculation that Iron Man will wear this suit, and defeat Thanos.

thorMany fans have started comparing Thor Ragnarok with Guardians of the Galaxy in terms of “tone”, but Kevin Feige (Marvel President) was quick to debunk it. He said:

“Well, I think I would say it’s, and as people see more of Ragnarok, it’s a Taika tone more than a Guardians tone. He’s really adding a unique point of view to it, but certainly, the success of Guardians just boosted our confidence to continue to go in new, fun, weird directions.”

The trailer has already broken viewership records, many calling it the best ever.
