Here’s Why Thanos Is More Important Than The Avengers In Infinity War

Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for their memorable superheroes. The studio has found a rhythm in their movie making that allows them to tell stories about characters bestowed with powers which they may struggle with but use it for the greater good. Marvel has, however, lacked in giving their heroes memorable villains to face. The only two that have had recurring roles are Thanos and Loki. And Thanos may just be the most famous villain of them all.

Avengers Infinity War is set to bring about every Marvel superhero to face the dominating figure that is Thanos. The film, based on the comic Infinity Gauntlet sees Thanos collect the Infinity Stones to cause death and destruction in the Marvel multiverse. His intentions, although quite violent are all to win the hand of Lady Death, Marvel Universe’s version of Death itself. He may also just be the main character in Avengers Infinity War.

Marvel Studio President and Executive Producer Kevin Feige told the website Screen Rant that the studio was working out ways to sort out their villain problem. He also talked about just how significant Thanos was in Infinity War:

“Thanos in Infinity War is, you know, in a movie that has a lot of characters, you could almost go so far as to say he is the main character, and that’s a bit of a departure from what we’ve done before, but that was appropriate for a movie called Infinity War.”

Thanos, in the comic Infinity Gauntlet, was the main character and from whose perspective the whole story revolved around. Feige’s statement only highlights that Thanos will indeed have a quality amount of screen time, even though the movie will technically be about The Avengers. And with the Titan king taking control of the villain role, it may be the first time that The Avengers are going to straight out battle a villain without any of their own involvements.
