Ryan Reynolds created a bit of a storm last month when he spoke out about his wish to see a Wolverine/Deadpool team up on the big screen. Fans agreed wholeheartedly that the movie should happen, that speculations and rumors even started about Deadpool shooting a cameo in Hugh Jackman swan song ”Logan.”
The Logan promotional campaign has focused on the fact that the movie will be Jackman’s last film as the mutant supreme Wolverine. The actor has also said in countless interviews that he wants to put the character to pasture and move on to different types of films. Hugh Jackman has showcased his talents a showman in the theater as well as films. But when Variety asked him the possibility of a team-up ever happening, he did not out-rightly brush off the concept. He told the paper that he was “hesitating” and it was wrong timing.
“I’m hesitating, because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may be wrong.”
In the same Variety article, Ryan Reynolds still showed his enthusiasm for a potential film. The actor has talked about wanting to specifically work with Hugh Jackman because he likes him a whole lot. Reynolds has been supportive even in promoting Jackman’s latest movie Logan on his social media. The actor said to Variety:
“I have no idea if I can change his mind. It’s the audience: I would exclusively exploit that relationship to get Hugh back for another one.”
Deadpool and Wolverine have proven themselves to be the most violent characters in the superhero world. Even garnering an R-rated film for both characters because PG-ratings were just stifling the true canon and identity of both characters. Jackman’s hesitation may be understandable, given the amount of time he has focused on the character. Reynolds is only starting his journey with Deadpool and is enthusiastic about the potentials the character could explore. People tend to surprise you when you least expect it, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that this team up will happen.
