Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Concept Art Has Been Released And It’s AMAZING!

Concept Art is one of the first steps taken by filmmakers in the long process of film-making. An artist is hired to imagine the early stages of a film that may see changes later on or might be scrapped altogether, and another idea will make the final cut of the movie. And sometimes, like in this case, the concept art made it into the film and we were all the better for it. Guardians Of The Galaxy concept artist Jackson Sze recently posted on his Instagram account early renderings of one of the most memorable scenes of the film and they are, might I add, quite great.

Sze posted two pictures from the film. One depicting the attack on the Xandarian prison by Groot  and  Rocket that helped them escape, along with Star-Lord, Drax, and Gamora  which became the beginning of the Guardians team. The other picture is of Groot, the beloved tree like giant being with a much bulkier size, holding onto a white flower. Groot who is voiced by Vin Diesel has long been a fan favorite due to his gentle nature and the comedic chemistry he possesses with his fellow Guardian’s team.James Gunn had earlier released in the year, a picture of the concept art for the new Guardian Of The Galaxy:Vol 2 on his Twitter account. The artwork, which was later featured in Empire Magazine, shows the Guardians fighting sharp-toothed tentacle-laden menace (possibly a Many-Angled One?)

The anticipated sequel already has a long list of new casts that have included Mantis and Star Lord’s father, the living planet Ego. Of which Gunn has stated:

“It was going to come out sooner or later,” Gunn told io9 of why he chose Comic-Con to reveal the information. “And I think one of the things I impressed upon people early on is the identity of Quill’s father is not the big stunner in this movie. I’m not leading it all to Darth Vader being Luke’s father in the third act reveal. This is really about the relationship between [Star-Lord] and his father, who happens to be a living planet, and his other father, Yondu, who is an abusive jerk. It’s about the dysfunctional family tried that those three characters have. That’s the center of the movie.”
