Film production is not as fascinating as it looks like in the final output. Things can get intensely unfavorable while shooting scenes and getting those exact action shots. While shooting risky stunts, shooting can go disastrously wrong. With tight precautions on the sets, unsaid deaths are very rare. But there are some famous actors who died on set while filming before they could wrap up their projects. We bring you four actors who died during the production.
1. Heath Ledger
The Dark Knight actor, Heath Ledger, wasn’t able to enjoy his critically claimed Academy Award for the best supportive actor. The actor died of an accidental drug overdose six months before The Dark Knight hit the screens. It was not his last film that he filmed before he died. He was shooting for a fantasy film The Imaginary of Doctor Parnassus.
2. Brandon lee
‘The Crow’ movie actor Brandon Lee was the son of famous actor Bruce Lee. He played the role of Eric Draven – the former guitarist of Hangman’s Joke, with Shelly Webster- the character married to him. While shooting a scene when Draven return home to find her girlfriend being attacked, actor Michael Massee shoots him in the film. The crew didn’t know that the gun he used had a real bullet. It hit his abdomen and even after six hours of surgery, he died. He was 28 years old.
3. Paul Walker
The Fast and The Furious star Paul Walker, who played Brian O’ Connor beside Vin Diesel’s character Dom Toretto, died in a car accident. Two months prior to the production of Fast 7, the driver of the Porsche he was traveling in crashed the car into the lamp post. Following his the death, the precaution was put on hold to give the cast some time to mourn his death. The film was eventually completed by using his brother Caleb and Cody.
4. Oliver Reed
The Gladiator film went on to get a couple of awards, and among them was for best visual effects. The film used pretty impressive CGI techniques, which completed Oliver Reed’s scene in the film. He died of a heart attack towards the end of filming.
