A Brand New Origin Story for Captain Marvel in MCU

Marvel Cinematic universe is set to expand to include 68 characters who will appear in Avengers Infinity War movies, this set off a kind of competition among every major character wanting to get more screen time before it becomes obsolete. The consistent trend with Marvel movies is first the solo movie launches the character, and then it is brought into the ensemble superhero movie, for instance, Ant-Man, Thor, Iron-man, Hulk, Captain America etc. But there are exceptions like Black Panther, Spiderman etc. The Russo brothers have confirmed that Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers will be in Infinity wars movies to be released in May 2018 & May 2019.

The Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (Room, 21 Jump Street, Rachel in Community TV series) is confirmed to play the iconic female superhero Captain Marvel as part of the Phase 3 of Marvel cinematic universe. She will make her debut in Avengers Infinity War much like Tom Holland’s Spiderman. There is also standalone movie in the works which is based on Captain Marvel, it’s screenplay will be written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman (of Guardians of the Galaxy fame).

Carol Denvers is an airforce pilot who met with a major accident that led to her DNA getting mixed with an alien which gave her super-strength. She is also famous for being a female superhero who aggressively fight for equal pay for women. On a power level, she is equivalent to Vision or Scarlett Witch, popularly known as Wonder woman of Marvel universe. In the MCU, the studio is planning to give an entirely difference origin story to Captain Marvel because of its similarities to Green Lantern (Hell Jordan).

It is possible that we may see an Infinity gem that will mark her transition from an airforce pilot to a superhero. There is also a speculation that she will replace Captain America and assume the leadership role in phase 4 of MCU. Well….we will see if Marvel gets this one right.
