Game of Thrones Season 7: Could the Mother of Dragons Still Lose?
At the end of season 6 of Game of Thrones, we had Daenerys Stormborn begin her invasion of Westeros with the huge armada, the Greyjoys, the unsullied, the Dothraki horde and the three dragons. She made Tyrion Lannister as her “Hand of the Queen”. Lord Varys successfully forged a “Fire & Blood” alliance with House Martell and House Tyrells who are hell-bent on taking revenge against Cersei Lannister. She is now the Queen of Westeros after she burned down the Sept of Baelor using wildfire killing everyone inside, as a result, King Tommen committed suicide by jumping out of the window. She is practically a Mad Queen with no allies.
The Red priestess Kinvara believes that according to old Valyrian prophecy Daenerys is the one (instead of Jon Snow) who was promised to sit on the Iron throne. At this point, one would take her opinion seriously over Melisandre who has a chequered record when it comes to interpreting the visions from the Lord of Light. She made Stannis Baratheon believe that he is the chosen one and that he must head to the North to claim victory in Winterfell. We all know how that turned out for him.
What could possibly go wrong for Dany? Well, it’s possible that she doesn’t reach to Westeros with her full force due to sea turbulence (Team Dany is literally crossing ‘narrow’ sea at the time when winter has arrived), food scarcity, disease or a surprise attack. It is possible that Euron Greyjoy ready his 1000 ships and overwhelm Dany’s forces with an aggressive sea attack. We know that Euron is a well-trained naval fighter whereas Dothraki dread fighting in the seas. He may do some real damage given the element of surprise. If the show decides to do Dragon-binder storyline, then Euron can literally control dragons and put an end to Daenerys’ reign before it even begins. We will wait for season 7 of Game of Thrones for all the answers. CHEERS!
