Looking For A Job??? Avoid Saying/Doing These 7 Things
Interviews are actually really important. We already know what to say or do in an interview. But interestingly, people often get rejected because of things they do which otherwise they should avoid. The interviewer is not going to kill you, he wants the right candidate as much as you want the job. No interviewer would reject you unless and until you give them the reason (well, most of the time this is true).
Few things you should certainly avoid:
1) Do NOT crib about your last organization
No matter what, one should never crib about their current/previous organization. Never say I want to leave because of bad policies or the unprofessional environment or for that matter anything. Play safe. You have to understand this, every organization gives you something to learn and if you are planning to crib now, the interviewer might feel you gonna do the same once you will leave their organization.
2) Never complain about your Ex –Boss
Big NOOOOO
It is not allowed unless the matter was so evident that it was there in the news or court. Avoid saying bad things about your boss. Because your interviewer might project himself into it. So please avoid. Be a little diplomatic. Before you point a finger at your boss, you will be having 3 fingers pointing at you too. Be careful.
3) Do NOT lie about anything.
“I am a great team player”
“I am fond of reading books’
I can gel with people very easily”
“I have helped my company in increasing sales by X%”
If you have no proof about it, better shut your mouth, else, you will land yourself in trouble. So, Do NOT brag.
4) Do you have any questions? “NO”
You should always be handy with a couple of questions. This does not mean that you should have 100 questions but asking 1 or 2 questions shows your interest in the organization and position. It also shows that you have done your homework.
P.S: It is NOT necessary to ask questions in every round.
5) Never be late.
Never ever be late and never be too early also. Reaching 15-30 minutes before the interview is perfectly fine. It gives you time to settle. But reaching too early will make you more nervous.
6) Do NOT be casual.
Casual in terms of your attire and attitude. Take it like this, you won’t wear shorts in a wedding or a party. You will not sleep wearing business suit or heavy sarees or your expensive dresses…why??? Every attire should fit into the occasion. So make sure you don’t make a fool of yourself.
7) Do NOT say , “I have NO weakness”.
You have NO weakness…excuse me..who are you? GOD? Every individual has some weakness. But you just be sure that you portray it in a manner that it doesn’t go against you. What if I want to hire you for a team handling the role and you say your weakness is , “I can’t work in a team” or “I lose my temper easily’. HELLOOO…why would I consider you then? So don’t lie but be a little smart while answering.
So far as possible try and avoid these things. All the best…!!
