Top 10 Craziest Anime Characters

I always thought anime characters were those perfect faced cartoons with bright clothes and long colourful flowing hair. Boy! Did I change my opinion once I went through some of the creepiest anime series seen on TV? Read on:

Monster – 2004 – 2005

Johan Liebert – On the outside Johan seems like an exemplary gentleman, highly intelligent, with a charismatic personality. But behind this façade is a psychopath who wishes to be the last man standing making him a true monster.

Jojo Bizarre Adventure – 2012

ACDC – One of the most bizarre series of Jojo adventures where Esidisi can extend his blood vessels out of his own body to pacify his rivals. This is just one out of the many bizarre adventures of Jojo. Out of all the crazy things in this series; one of the craziest is his technique of crying.

Deadman Wonderland – 2011

The wretched Egg – While Shiro is a calm, collected and a friendly person, simultaneously she can take on a personality of a wretched egg that is so twisted and insane that it really makes your skin crawl, making her a severe case of split personality. A personality born of enormous pain and suffering this powerful villain is as crazy as it gets.

Sword Art Online – 2012

Nobuyuki Sugou – This anime series truly defines why one should not meet an online friend in real life. A true psychopath who has it all – scholar, entrepreneur, and a lovely fiancé Asuna. Though we can’t say much about his mind as that is one thing which is missing. Disguised as his avatar the fairy king ‘Oberon’, Sugou reins over this online world and he isn’t afraid to abuse his power. After completing the game of Swords Art Online many players fail to wake up include his girlfriend Asuna. It was soon discovered that Sugou had trapped the minds of the players to play his own game.

Future Diary aka Mirai Nikki – 2011 – 2013

Yomotsu Hirasaka – With his peculiar choice of outfit and an obsession for justice one would think this oddball would have some morals. But sadly, this is not the case, for Yomotsu littering is equal to murder. He is one creepy character with an affinity for explosives.

Hunter X Hunter – 2011 – 2014

Hisoka – Hisoka has all the traits of a serial killing machine. He tends to go through withdrawals when he hasn’t killed someone. His strength on others turns him on.

Yowamushi Pedal – 2013

Akira Midousuji – This cyclist has only one thing in mind “Victory”. His arrogance and sociopathic nature make it pretty much clear that he has little to no desire to make friends. His dangly legs and lizard-like tongue make him even creepier.

Tokyo Ghoul – 2014 – 2015

Shuu Tsukiyama – He’s slick, handsome, and charming, but not for long. This series shows a former human, Kaneki who has a particular scent which Shuu can’t seem to resist. His insatiable hunger targets Kaneki as his next dish, throwing him into the centre of his Gourmet club. This series keeps getting weirder by the minute.

Kaiji Series– 2007 – 2011

Chairman Hyoudou – Common saying – Money can turn a man mad. Well, this certainly seems true in the case of this millionaire acting as a chairman of Teiei firm. He relieves his boredom by hosting dangerous games and gambles which often end injuring the contestant fatally. Not only does Kaiji enjoy the sport but gets a real thrill out of it.

Fate/Zero – 2011 – 2012

Caster – This anime tells the story of the Fourth Holy Grail War where you get to see everything you could have expected from a serial killer. Ryuunosuke Uryuu has a lust for blood and lack of moral fibre. Caster is quite terrifying, like his original identity Gille de Rais that is if his appearance doesn’t give away. Caster uses murder method that leads his victims to new heights of despair. Though the series was brief but left his ugly mark.
