Donald Glover Joins the Cast of Spiderman: Homecoming

Marvel Studios and Sony are collaborating on launching a new Spiderman franchise, the popular actor Tom Holland has been cast as Peter Parker/Spiderman. The audience is very excited about him as he totally nailed it in Captain America Civil War, made his presence felt in the ensemble superhero movie and showed us that he has got some serious acting chops.

The studio has finalized on making first spiderman movie in a franchise based on “Spiderman Homecoming” comic-book storyline. When this comic was launched in the 1990’s, the idea was to re-invent Spiderman character which totally aligns with the present vision of Sony Pictures. Vulture is possibly the big villain who will have the ability to fly at increased strength, built from the remains of Chitauri (a race of extraterrestrial shape-shifters) technology from the battle of New York. Michael Keaton has been roped in to play the big villain, while Marisa Tomei will be Aunt May onscreen. Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige will be producing the venture, whereas Jon Watts is directing it. The movie is set to begin its production later this month. The idea is to take the spiderman back to its “high-school” roots.

In a recent addition to the growing cast, Donald Glover has been cast for an anonymous role. There was a grassroots fan campaign to make Glover the superhero when Sony was rebooting Spiderman franchise, but the part went to Andrew Garfield. He did manage to voice mixed-race Spiderman Miles Morales in the Disney animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man”. He is a great rap artist with a stage name Childish Gambino, co-starred in comedy series “Community” and appeared in the movie “The Martian”. He is set to star, produce and direct an FX show Atlanta this fall.

The movie is expected to hit theatres on July 6, 2017.
