DC Comics stepping up its game, Marvel feeling the heat

After delivering a plethora of massive blockbuster hits like Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Winter Soldier etc, Marvel camp was on cloud nine. They felt a sense of complacency, an aura of invincibility after tasting such grand success at the global box-office. They believed its principal rival DC Comics could never get its house in order, lack vision to craft a robust DC Cinematic Universe which could effectively compete with an established Marvels universe. They have Robert Downey Jr. as Iron man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Cap, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black widow, all of them with prolonged contracts, menacing villains, talented scriptwriters, excellent cinematographers, high-end production machinery; they have it all, who could possibly give them run for their money.

And then Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice high-definition trailer dropped on the internet by the Warner Bros. It has sent shockwaves across comic book world and have emboldened & united DC fans. Millions of DC comics readers are rooting for the movie, which is the first genuine attempt by DC to build a credible superhero universe. Zack Snyder has struck a chord with the fans through big screen adaptation of an iconic Frank Miller’s graphic novel “Dark Knight returns”. The trailer has raised the bar as well as expectations from the movie. It will also have substantial character building for Wonder woman, and introduce Aquaman, Flash etc. Hence, a cinematic universe will take credible shape if Zack gets it right this time. Moreover, there is also news doing the rounds that Ben Affleck will be acting and directing a standalone Batman movie which might get released in 2018. If this was not enough, at Comic-Con 2015, David Ayer made an entry along with the entire Suicide Squad cast. They released a trailer as well which has set pulse racing and have made Marvel visibly nervous.

Who will win this fight. Marvel or DC. Only time will tell.
