Kevin Feige Explains the Difference Between “The Blip” & “The Snap”

Difference Between “The Blip” & “The Snap”

Spider-Man: Far From Home is out and running, and people are totally loving everything it has done with the concepts of the MCU. It amazed the audience in many ways, and one little development was addressing the concept of the “Snappening” as the “Blip.” Getting dusted after the snap has been referred to as the decimation, but coming back with Hulk’s snap is called being “blipped.” So, this is what hints at the fact that “the Snap” and “the Blip” aren’t actually the same thing.

Infinity War Thanos Snap

For those who thought that Thanos’ Snap at the end of Infinity War is actually the Blip, then you’re wrong. It is the Hulk’s snap which is called “the blip” because people just came out of nowhere after 5 years. It felt like they just blipped into the scene. What’s funny is that the video is shown in Spider-Man: Far From Home where the students appeared in the Basket Ball court from where they disappeared initially actually had the sound of the blip!

While speaking to Fandango, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained the difference between the Blip and the Snap. He said:

“It came pretty fast. We always referred to it as the Blip, and then the public started referring to it as the Snap. We think it’s funny when high school kids just call this horrific, universe-changing event the Blip. We’ve narrowed it down to, the Snap is when everybody disappeared at the end of Infinity War. The Blip is when everybody returned at the end of Endgame… and that is how we have narrowed in on the definitions.”

It’s great how the world moved on after the snap, and also coped up with the Blip. They’ve accepted the fact that people disappeared and appeared, on such a level that they actually started to call it the Blip! Spider-Man: Far From Home did manage to show us the effect of the Blip upon the world. There were so many questions about what could have happened to the common people, and some that worked for the story were answered.

Avengers Endgame Theory Infinity Stones

There were so many things that the director and Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely took into consideration with regards to the whole Snap situation. He said:

“There are so many ideas we had. I was talking to [Markus and McFeely] about twins. We were talking about what would happen if one twin blipped out. It’d still be twins, but one of them would be five years older, which would be really strange.

Thanos said all living entities, all living beings, half of all of them, so does that include bacteria? Did half of the stomach bacteria inside of you disappear and people get really sick?”

Infinity War Thanos Snap

Well, the technicalities of the Snap could really drive you nuts! All in all, even though it was the most iconic moment in cinematic history, it could also prove to be the most stupid moment because of these technicalities brought into question. So, Marvel did the smart thing by addressing the Snap and the Blip with just little teases and then went on to tell their respective stories.
