Here’s Why Ben Affleck Walked Away From ‘The Batman’

The Batman:

We all know that Ben Affleck isn’t going to play the role of Batman anymore and there were a lot of speculations on the internet about the potential reason for his departure but one of the biggest reason is that Matt Reeves is the one who didn’t want Ben Affleck to be in the movie and despite the push from the side of fans, it was Matt Reeves who explained his reason for not considering Ben Affleck in his movie and it seems like the reason he is giving is quite good and reasonable.

There were earlier reports that Matt Reeves is going to focus solely on the younger version of Batman in his movie and don’t want to bring the flashbacks or connections of DC’s Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movies with this one.

What he wants to do is to give a whole new Batman movie to the fans. So, the matter is that there were reports that Ben Affleck has been called upon by the top people at DC and there were chances that he is going to have a cameo in the movie because the fans went almost rampant and were running a lot of campaign in support of Batfleck.

But, Matt Reeves said no to the cameo even by saying that he simply doesn’t want to have any strings from the previous character of Batman as what has done has been done and now he wants to go with a whole new Batman movie.

The statement which has come forward on the internet as a reply to all the people who wanted Ben Affleck to be in the movie, it states,

“Affleck was very open and interested in the idea. And also some people within the studio were also clearly interested in the idea, if they could get the stars to align. But Matt Reeves was the one who really just wants his film to stand on its own, without any potential baggage from the reception to Justice League and Batman V Superman to weigh it down or cause any kind of distraction from his seminal Batman movie.”

I think it’s understandable from the director Matt Reeves that he doesn’t want any kind of hype and disappointment before the release of the movie by the normal moviegoers and the fans of DC because we all know that it’s a right decision not to have any kind of strings attached to the previous movies.

Also, now if talk about the people who’ll replace Ben Affleck as the Batman are very few but some of the names which are in great speculations are such as Kit Harrington and Oscar Isaac.

So, a lot of speculations are in there regarding the name who’ll be the next Batman. Also, one other angle of this news is that there are reports that the movie of Matt Reeves is still far-far years away from near future and we have to wait a lot for the next Batman movie.

Some are suggesting that the movie is going to come somewhere in the spring of 2019 or in the summer of 2019. But, nothing solid has been said about the movie.

Earlier this year, Matt Reeves explained the reason behind his much awaited Batman movie as he states that in this movie he is going to take a deep dive into the lives of all those characters he has seen in the comic books.

He went on to explain that this movie isn’t going to be connected to the movie Christopher Nolan made and isn’t going to be based on any specific comic book. He said,

The Batman Ben Affleck

“Year One is one of the many comic books that I love. We are definitely not doing Year One, We’re doing a story that is definitively Batman though, and trying to tell a story that’s emotional—and yet is really about him being the world’s greatest detective and all the things that for me, since I was a kid, made me love Batman.”
