The Justice League has been through hell. We are talking about the movie, not the superhero team. After a PR nightmare of a promotional tour, the sad excuse of a marketing campaign came to an end with the debacle that was the Box Office figures of the Justice League. It failed so spectacularly that even after more than a year of its release, people all around the world still talk about it. And now we have another reason to hate the movie. What Snyder created for the DCEU was an art. But Joss Whedon desecrated his legacy by putting in nonsensical plot elements via reshoots that ruined the flow of the movie.
And here’s another broken arrow we throw at you. The Reshoots created a major continuity flaw for Aquaman in the Justice League. Presenting – Justice League has a Major Aquaman Continuity Error and here’s how!!!
Continuity Errors become common occurrences when a multi-movie franchise comes into being. Putting in all the storylines to fit an overall plot is sure to leave some holes in the ship. It is not to say that Warner Bros. is the only one facing such a situation.
Disney Entertainment’s Lucas Film is also guilty of this error in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In several of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies as well, the flaws in the flow of the storyline in terms of the setting of time are glaring as well. The latest example of this is Justice League, where extensive Reshoots, just like Rogue One, put it right in the crosshairs of spotters of continuity flaws within movies.
The Post Production process of the movie was wrought with flaws left to right and center. After the abrupt departure of Zack Snyder from the DC Extended Universe, Joss Whedon was called in to rein in the Justice league back into gear.
And his first act as the Director was ordering hefty reshoots to fit his vision of the Justice League movie, desecrating what Snyder had built up until this point. And this is where the error arises. One scene featuring Aquaman is actually the one that helped fans scouring through the internet for DCEU trivia spot this error.
Remember the scene where Aquaman saves a drowning fisherman after the latter’s ship sinks in a Parademon attack. After Aquaman brings the Fisherman back to shore alive and well, he leaves the chap on the table of the local bar. Then Aquaman spots a strange looking green slime on his hand, confirming his suspicions of an impending attack as claimed by Bruce Wayne.
Our fanboy army at Reddit were the ones that spotted this error for us. Here is the picture:
If you could see, the green slime was first seen on the hands of Jason Momoa after he left the guy on the table. But the moment after he leaves the guy, he grabs a bottle of beer and his hand could be clearly seen in the frame. In this shot, there is no green slime on the right hand. But the scene after that features the same slime.
This is an error that might seem ordinary but if you take the entire plot into consideration, could be considered a mismanagement of epic proportions. This is what happens when you reshoot a perfect shot scene!! The original Snyder Cut had no such flaw in continuity.
This was the work of Joss Whedon. In earlier interviews, Momoa has himself confirmed that several scenes featuring him were cut from the movie to accommodate Whedon’s theatrical version into the Big Screens. Sometimes, we think he wantonly created holes in the movie to let it sink in the icy waters of the Box Office swamp.
Aquaman last appeared in Justice League. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity, and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly-awakened enemy.
