Ben Affleck May Not Be Personally Involved With Upcoming Batman Movie

Ben Affleck has crafted a career that few could experience, an unpredictable storm that took the actor through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. The actor shot up to superstardom after his film “Good Will Hunting” with Matt Damon and Robin William got attention and even won an Oscar for the actor and Damon who wrote the film. Several years down the line, Affleck experienced a career funk due to bad movies like Gigli and Daredevil. He unexpectedly turned things around when he focused on writing and directing, experiencing a second career high with films like Argo and last year’s Batman Vs Superman.

Audiences reacted positively towards Affleck’s portrayal of The Dark Knight, with expectations continuing to build for the upcoming The Batman. Such expectations can build pressure for writers as there is more tension and anticipation for a piece that is not yet created. Ben Affleck has already spoken about his need to create a great new story for the upcoming film, given the rich history Batman has experienced on screen and it seems like he is coming to the point of “all or nothing.”

Ben Affleck told The Guardian in a recent interview that he may actually bail out of the project as a director or writer. He seemed indecisive about the future’s project basically because the actor has become such a perfectionist. He told The Guardian:

“It’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

Ben Affleck seems to want a bit of time to ponder on what would be good for his film, but Warner bros. has shown to be in a rush, proclaiming dates for the release of the film even before the script has come together. This is basically how most superhero movies have been made in the past, churning out movies due to public demand. But Affleck has a history of creating stories that are more character oriented than just action sequences. A far cry from what Affleck has based his writer/director credit on. Will he really leave as a writer? The film will certainly lose a good egg if so, and how he will act on is something we can watch out for.
