With the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them movie series, Potterheads are finally getting a good insight into Albus Dumbledore’s past. The last book in the Harry Potter franchise, The Deathly Hallows sheds light on the Hogwarts headmaster’s complex youth. However, the Harry Potter films did not go in-depth about him as the movies were supposed to focus on Harry. But now, we will get to see how Albus Dumbledore rose to power and the sacrifices he had to make on the way. With this, we can only hope that some other iconic characters from the Potter franchise will someday get their own films. Here are the 10 Harry Potter characters that deserve their own spinoffs:
Remus Lupin
If there is one teacher we’d all like to have in real life then it’s Professor Remus Lupin. And as you know, being a werewolf, Lupin has had an extremely difficult life. He was bitten by Fenrir Greyback as a child and became a werewolf. His backstory would surely make for an entertaining spinoff!
Minerva McGonagall
The transfiguration teacher and future headmistress of Hogwarts don’t get her due credit. She is one of the most consistent parental figures in Harry’s life who is never biased and still cares a lot. According to Pottermore, Minerva was once married and had heartbreak as well. Her younger years and journey would surely make for an amazing watch.
Rubeus Hagrid
Rubeus Hagrid is the Hogwarts gamekeeper and the lover of all creatures. He is a gentle giant and father figure to Harry and is always there for him. However, the HP films don’t explore his character much and it would be great to see a younger Hagrid and his adventures.
Neville Longbottom
Most fans who have only seen the films know Neville as the sidekick character who grows up to be a hero. But did you know that Neville Longbottom was almost the chosen one instead of Harry? The fifth book reveals how Neville and Harry’s fates were intertwined and how Harry actually became the chosen one. Since the films didn’t portray these crucial details along with Neville’s tragic family history, it would only be fair if he gets a movie that depicts his life story.
The Black Sisters
Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda were the three Black sisters who grew up in the same house but went their separate paths. While Bellatrix and Narcissa became death eaters, Andromeda joined the Order of the Phoenix and fought in both wars. Their history and the events that led to their separation are a story waiting to be told on the big screen!
Sirius Black
A fan-favorite character who definitely deserves his own film is Sirius Black or Padfoot. Sirius had a tough childhood growing up in a Black family home. Since all his family believed in pureblood supremacy, Sirius never got along with them and chose to leave home at 16. His life had many obstacles and tragedies that include losing his best friend and going to Azkaban for a crime he never committed. This definitely makes for a great spinoff script.
Tom Riddle
We know what you’re thinking. Lord Voldemort was the main villain in the Potter stories so why would he get another film? Hear us out. In the Half-Blood Prince book, we get a lot of backstory on Voldemort’s younger years and it was left out from the movie. Hence, it would be incredible to see Tom Riddle’s journey to become Voldemort on the big screen. While some fan films have tried to portray Voldemort’s twisted past, we need a proper film to do him justice.
Luna Lovegood
One of the most unique characters that fans love is Luna. She is equivalent to a ray of light in Harry’s dark life and journey. However, there isn’t much material on Luna’s life that isn’t shown in the movies. Hence, it would be interesting to see her journey after Hogwarts and how she leads her life after the battle of Hogwarts.
Hermione Granger
Now, this one is a no-brainer! Many fans believe that Hermione was the real hero of the series and so it is only fair that she gets to tell her story too. After the battle of Hogwarts, Hermione goes back to Hogwarts to complete her education and later becomes the Minister of Magic. Hence, it would be amazing to watch a film that revolves around her journey.
Severus Snape
Last but certainly not least is the Half Blood Prince himself. Snape is a complex character who has many layers and doesn’t fall into the black and white dichotomy. The prince’s tale in the last book tells his story to a good extent but there’s still a lot that we don’t know. Also, the movies don’t focus too much on him and fans would surely love to see more of him. Hence, a spinoff or a prequel depicting Snape’s story would be a delight for the Potterheads!
