WB is Now Developing a New DCEU Crisis Movie

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is undergoing some massive developments with some major characters set to make their debut soon. In the meantime, the DC Extended Universe is not holding back on its heroes either. The franchise is set to have a lot of its characters appear in solo ventures in the upcoming period. There are going to be some major updates to the franchise. Multiple actors are going to get a chance to feature their powers and thus change the dynamics of the franchise so far. There is no hint regarding when we will get to see a major crossover between these characters yet. It seems that Warner Bros. might have a major DCEU Crisis event in its sleeves according to sources. Here is all that you need to know about the new DCEU crisis movie.

DCEU Status

There is a lot of confusion regarding the status of DCEU as there was a massive change following the release of Justice League. The movie was the biggest crossover event of the franchise and yet it ended up being a failure. It was such a failure that fans demanded to see the original plans of Zack Snyder for the movie with the reports of his cut being available coming out in the news. Even though this cut was released, it was indicated to not be a part of the DCEU. Thus we were left wondering about the characters and their status in the franchise and what was going to be true about them.

We are going to see a lot of major projects from the franchise set to come out soon. This includes the likes of sequels of major projects while at the same time introducing new characters to the arc of the universe. WB’s slate of DCEU movies for the while includes Black Adam, Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Not only that but there are going to be two other projects like Batgirl and Blue Beetle with yet to be announced release dates. These two projects will also end up introducing two big names to the DCEU.

Rebooting Characters

New DCEU Crisis Movie

There has been no confirmation regarding some of the characters in the DCEU. Ben Affleck had officially retired from his take on the role of Batman in the franchise with him making one final appearance in The Flash. At the same time, there is no clarity whether Henry Cavill will be seen returning as Superman anytime soon in the franchise. But there are some characters who might actually be replacing these two major DCEU characters. The Flash actually brings back Michael Keaton’s Batman from the Tim Burton movies and the movie will also feature Sasha Calle as Supergirl.

Crisis Event Based On DC Leak

We are going to see the franchise bring back one of the biggest DC comics narratives with The Flash being heavily derived from the Flashpoint arc. According to KC Walsh of Geeks WorldWide, Warner Bros. might be planning on another major adaptation with Crisis on Infinite Earths. Based on one of his old leaks on Twitter it is quite clear that this might be something in the DCEU plans. According to the tweet,

So DC/WBs plan is to build a Crisis on Infinite Earths Event if that wasn’t obvious already

Ben Affleck had left the franchise quite early and Zack Snyder’s Cut for Justice League was going to be his final appearance as Batman in the DCEU. It has become quite clear that the actor will officially be leaving the mantle of the Dark Knight with his appearance in The Flash. But this could mean that the actor may leave the door open for a major Crisis-style event. According to another tweet,

Batfleck is still very much done with DCEU, but leaving the door open for him to come back during a crisis event if he wants makes sense, but I’ll take.

While this narrative won’t be a part of The Flash, the movie might play a pivotal role in setting up the events of the Crisis. This would be done at the very end with a scene featuring Affleck’s Batman. Walsh revealed,

[The Flash] sets up [a Crisis on Infinite Earths-inspired event] at the end. This is the Batfleck scene that people are referencing, it sets up Crisis

He also tweeted regarding this detail along with how Warner Bros. plans to work on this narrative:

I’m not going to spoil it but it involves Batman

The final reveal indicated that Zack Snyder’s plans for the franchise will not be taken into consideration anymore. But marketing for The Flash will proceed in a manner that makes fans think differently about Warner Bros. plans.

You’re never getting direct Snyder sequels, [Warner Bros.] are going to make you think you are so you all continue to buy in, like you’re doing with The Flash and then they will bring everyone back for a crisis event and call it a win.

New DCEU Crisis Movie

This is a lot of information regarding the plans and yet it cannot be entirely trusted. The source had also stated that these plans are in early development and it might take 3-5 years to come into fruition. But considering the plans of not having a massive crossover event yet, we can be sure that there is something big set to ensue when DC actually goes for a crossover event. We did get to witness a version of Crisis on Infinite Earths on TV with the Arrowverse merging together the massive storyline. Even though we can be sure that the DCEU plans will be a lot different, it still has us excited about how things will unfold.
