Here’s Why People Are Boycotting Hawkeye On Disney+
Hawkeye came out on November 24, 2021, and MCU fans were overjoyed by the treatment and the recognition the hero is getting. Although there is something sinister brewing below the surface. The show is based on David Aja and Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye comic run but Marvel Studios refuse to accept that. Hawkeye also has a stylish opening that is directly inspired by David Aja’s cover but the studio still refuses to credit or pay the artist. I suppose it doesn’t come as a surprise that people are boycotting Hawkeye on Disney+ because of these reasons.
Enraged fans have taken to Twitter and made claims about how watching Hawkeye is akin to betraying their comic kinship. This row started when someone pointed out that the new Hawkeye poster is inspired by the cover art of Hawkeye #19 by David Aja. Things escalated further when the artist himself replied to the tweet saying that some monetary compensation would be much better than mere credits. Of course, he was joking, but this highlights a major problem in how Marvel Studios does things.
We have collected several tweets in this regard, take a look at this collection below and let us know what you think.
People Are Boycotting Hawkeye
I won’t watch Hawkeye because of this. I hear it’s good but don’t feel like rewarding Disney for being stingy with compensation and due credit https://t.co/JS4nS04IRK

The Lethargy
Rage Against The Machine
Overwhelming Evidence
The influence, style, and aesthetic of David Aja's art within the whole show is so strong especially with the beautiful opening and closing credits of the episodes. Why on earth have Marvel not paid and credited him. He deserves much better pic.twitter.com/qo1hqjuLX0

Once More For The People In The Back
My son and I really dug the first two episodes of #Hawkeye. But I want to see a giant @davaja credit upfront. His work with Matt Fraction looks to be embedded in the DNA of the whole series.

Where It All Started
Even better: Stop crediting, start paying, haha.

As things stand, fans are happy with the series but not happy with the studio. Some have even threatened to pirate the show just so that the studio does not make much money. We don’t know how things will unfold but we know that the fans are adamant about supporting the artist. Rightly so, since the entire series is based on the DNA of his and Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye run. It was an epic storyline and it will make an epic show but who knows how things will affect the standing of the studio.
Let us know if you support the fans or the studio in this war of credits. I suppose we should all support the artists more than anything else. After all, that is where good stories actually come from. Let us know what you think in the comments below and keep watching this space for everything Marvel, DC, and Hollywood.
