They are trying to pull out every single detail about the movie. Spoiler Warning for those who haven’t seen the film yet. Go watch it, people. What are you doing really?? It’s great. Go and have a good time. The Rest of you, follow my lead and scroll!

Success Of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings featured one of the best casts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The whole wide range of characters that we get to witness is something out of the ordinary with a movie of this scale. Each character had his or her own moment that made them a memorable part of the movie. Even Ben Kingsley who hilariously played the actor who played the Mandarin from the previous rendition of the Ten Rings gave us something worth remembering. The movie seems to have not disappointed in any of the fronts that it was supposed to deliver.

Alternate Ending of Shang-Chi

When talking about the cast of the movie one has to mention Tony Leung’s performance as Wenwu. While this might be Tony Leung’s Hollywood debut, fans are aware of how big of a star he is in Hong Kong cinema. His portrayal of Wenwu was pivotal to the movie since this gave us the drive of the movie characters who were mostly affected by his presence. Wenwu didn’t intend to become what he had become and he was clearly fooled into this path. He was too late by the time he realized his mistake as he let out the giant soul sucker monster. He dies in the hands of the monsters while handing off the Ten Rings to Shang-Chi.

Plans For Wenwu

The director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Destin Daniel Cretton revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that there were some other plans for Wenwu. Upon being asked if there was a version of the film where Wenwu survives instead of being perished by the Dweller of Darkness he responded, “Yes, there was.”

On being question why these plans didn’t seem to work out he responded:

Some things just work and some things don’t. We’re constantly searching for the version of the story that feels most authentic to the characters. I mean, even though these characters are operating on a very operatic level, there’s still things that you try that just feel like cheats. And that was one of them.

Alternate Ending of Shang-Chi

It is exciting to think about the possible directions the film could have gone if Wenwu was present and took down the monster along with his son. While he was driven with evil intentions, he was very clear about this being for his family. We cannot simply compare him to some of the other villains in MCU who had similar powers and used them for manipulation and power. He actually did the right thing by handing over his treasured power to Shang-Chi so that he can defeat the monster. If it would have been otherwise Shang-Chi won’t have been able to save the city of Ta Lo.

Another noteworthy thing the director added was the point that “…in the MCU, anything can happen.” This is actually true and hence we can always expect to possibly see a return of the character. Maybe in any of the other upcoming films or in the wide multiverse that MCU is set to explore now.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung.
