All New and Returning MCU Actors In The Party Thor Episode

The seventh episode of What If…? featured a lot of the characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe appearing both in major and minor roles. The movie primarily focuses on what might have happened if Thor didn’t have Loki as his sibling and was brought up as a single child. This leads to Thor being absolutely childish and not having the continuous intention of impressing his father Odin. Thor gives a massive party on Earth and this party allows us to reintroduce a lot of the popular characters from all across the MCU. Let’s take a look at all the non-returning and returning MCU Actors in the Party Thor episode of What If…?.

The Watcher

Jeffrey Wright returned in his portrayal of the Watcher similar to the other appearances throughout the show. This time around he does make sure to not get involved in the events of the episode which he is generally supposed not to do. But his character does get surprised as he thinks the tone would be light for this storyline but the ending does catch him out of nowhere. Maybe he will continue with those events in some future episode.

Thor

Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor by voicing the character in the episode. This Thor is a lot more immature than the one that we got to witness in the earlier movies of the MCU. Due to the absence of his brother Thor obtains an absolutely different persona and becomes much more careless and spoilt and less interested in proving his worth to his father.

Jane Foster

Natalie Portman returns to portray the role of Janes Foster from the movies. We last got to see Jane in Thor: The Dark World and after that nothing was made clear about her presence and she was only hinted at having parted ways with Thor. In the universe that was explored in the episode Jane does end up falling for Thor’s charm and they decide to go on a date in the end.

Darcy

Returning MCU Actors In The Party Thor Episode

Darcy appears in the episode voiced by Kat Dennings. Dennings previously had a major role in WandaVision where she also got to give us a very major insight into Darcy’s character as an individual in the absence of Jane Foster. Darcy actually ends up marrying Howard the Duck in the episode which was rather interesting to see considering she is quite fun and the episode only highlights that persona.

Frigga

Frigga plays a major role in the episode as we get to see a lot more of the mother-son dynamic that Thor shares with her. Her character is voiced by Josette Eales instead of Rene Russo who had previously played the role in the previous appearances of the character in the live-action movies. We last got to Frigga in Endgame where she plays a somewhat similar character and brings back Thor to his feet and he takes the heroic role.

Loki

Loki makes an appearance in the episode and it was about time we got to considering the was a consequence of his absence as Thor’s sibling. Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as the God of Mischief and he certainly does retain some of his characteristics from the Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.

Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson made his comeback cameo as Nick Fury in this episode. It’s funny that his character was decommissioned in an instant.

Grandmaster

Grandmaster makes an appearance voiced by none other than Jeff Goldblum himself. This character doesn’t change a bit from his usual persona of knowing how to really nail the parties like his ways in Thor: Ragnarok. Let’s hope we get to see a lot more of him in the other movies that might come out in the future.

Maria Hill

Maria Hill is voiced by Cobie Smulders and this time she actually takes over the S.H.I.E.L.D. since Nick Fury is injured by Korg. She is the only character who appears to be much more serious than the others in this episode. She takes the major decisions that eventually lead to ending the havoc that Thor’s parties had raised in the episode.

Agent Coulson

Returning MCU Actors In The Party Thor Episode

Agent Coulson is reprised by the fan-favorite Clark Gregg. Clark Gregg has been at the helm of the role with his character being a leading role in The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. series. We don’t know if the series is canon or not but there is a chance that we might get to see this character more in the future projects of MCU.

Korg, Nebula, Lady Sif

Though these characters didn’t have a major role in the episode they do get voiced by the actors who portrayed them in the movies. Korg, Nebula, and Lady Sif are all voiced by Taika Waititi, Karen Gillan, and Jamie Alexander respectively. These characters appear to be much lighter tone and much more childish than their respective version in the MCU.

Howard The Duck

Seth Green gets the fans again by voicing the character in Howard the Duck again. This time around we also get to see this character get married to Darcy. Seth Green has been voicing the character in the MCU for every appearance made by him earlier. Let’s hope we get to explore a lot more of this character in the future considering the character is quite colorful compared to other characters in the MCU.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is voiced by Alexandra Daniels. She did also appear in the role of Carole Danvers in episode 3 of the series in a very short role. She appears as a bigger sister persona to Thor and tries to stop him but she gives up after a fight with him that goes all around the world. It is a surprise that she gave up considering her character later reveals that she only didn’t use her full potential as it could have had massive implications on the planet.

So these were all the new and returning MCU actors in the Party Thor episode. Did you like Alexandra Daniels instead of Brie Larson? Let us know your thoughts.
