X-Men Villain Appear in Falcon & Winter Soldier:
The Falcon & Winter Soldier series is bringing in a lot of new characters. We won’t just have many new enhanced individuals like US Agent, Battlestar, Songbird and a few others, but a few Thunderbolts characters are also rumored to appear. But none of these characters are going to surprise you as much as the appearance of mutants will. Yes, the MCU is going to be crawling with mutants real soon. Their introduction always seemed to be the plan ever since the Disney Fox acquisition chatter began. And now we’re getting X-Men related characters sooner than anyone would’ve thought.
Back in 2019, Kevin Feige always said that Marvel will first be running with their planned slate, and then introduce the X-Men & Fantastic Four. Well this statement does hold some sort of truth but right from the get go of Phase 4, Marvel will use movies and TV shows to introduce mutants & Fantastic Four related characters to build up their eventual films. It has already been teased that a Russian mutant called Ursa Major will be in Black Widow. Furthermore, we’ve heard rumors that Rogue will be the villain in Captain Marvel 2 and she’d be the leader of the brotherhood.
But between Black Widow and Captain Marvel 2, we’re going to get The Falcon And The Winter Soldier which will have its own set of mutants. After Ursa Major, we’d be getting another Russian mutant, i.e. Omega Red in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. This rumor actually comes from a plot leak that originated on 4Chan. So it should definitely be taken as a grain of salt, but things do make sense.
Obviously, a potential spoiler warning if any of the following is actually true.
This plot leak of 1 episode has been submitted by an anonymous user who claims to have seen an unfinished version of the episode. By the details we see here, it seems to be the pilot. Let’s read and see how Omega Red fits into the plot:
“Sam isn’t allowed to be Cap because of the events of Civil War, but trusts US Agent to take over the mantle.
US Agent genuinely wants to do a good job and doesn’t realize he’s part of a bigger plan.
Sam and Bucky have to work with Zemo to track down a crime syndicate called The Alchemists. Zemo is essentially their hostage but he has vital information.
They go to Madripool with him and there they meet Batroc the Leaper and Omega Red.
Agent 13 and Bucky seem to have a romance. Very flirty vibes. Sam judges Bucky for it and Bucky says, “Steve dated her like 70 years ago.”
William Hurt is in the show. At least in this one episode. Seemed to reference events of Black Widow.
Zemo escapes from them in a speedboat to end the episode.
Sam got shot in the episode.”
There’s plenty that we could dive into here. For starters, Sam Wilson accepts the government’s decision to make John Walker the next Captain America. He was happy that Steve chose him, but obviously he was hesitant to take such a huge mantle. So he probably gives the shield to John Walker willingly. And the government’s decision for not choosing Sam Wilson as Captain America is also understandable because a few years ago, he was a wanted fugitive of the UN. The US cannot have a former fugitive as their representative.
Secondly, Sam & Bucky team up for a rather pressing issue, i.e. the Alchemists. They get hold of Zemo, who has seemingly escaped, and together they travel to the fictional country – Madripoor. The flag of Madripoor was seen in the set photos. So, we’re inclined to believe that this plot leak is somewhat true. Madripoor is a safe haven for Mutants & pirates so we could see a few mutants come into play as Sam & Bucky reach the nation.
And the first mutant that they will encounter is Omega Red! Arkady Gregorivich Rossovich aka Omega Red is another individual that Russia experimented upon just like Alexie Shostakov aka Red Guardian. He was supposed to be the villain of Deadpool 2, but that was changed. And now, it seems that Omega Red will have a role to play in the MCU. This mutant has fought Wolverine & the X-Men many times, so his role could expand.
The result of experiments upon him made him extremely strong, but those very experiments also gave him a weakening condition. Omega Red has these tentacles that come out of him due to cybernetic advancements, and he uses them to take the life force of other people. That way, he is temporarily able aid his own physical weaknesses due to the experiments done upon him.
Apart from Omega Red, we’ve got Batroc the Leaper returning. The last time we saw him was in The Winter Soldier as he had escaped Captain America’s hold. So over the years, his adventures brought him to Madripoor. It’s really awesome that Marvel is bringing Batroc back because he wasn’t used fairly back in Captain America 2. Now, he might even get a small arc in the gigantic & continuous story of the MCU.
Third, Bucky & Sharon are being set up as a future couple. In the MCU years, Sharon & Steve had kissed just once 7 years ago. After that Steve ended up with Peggy Carter and lived his life in an alternate timeline. So, it’d be okay for Bucky & Sharon to be hitched.
Fourth, General Ross will appear and establish a connection to his Thunderbolts arc from Black Widow. Moreover, we’ve already heard Ghost is also supposed to make a cameo. Who knows, even Taskmaster might appear in order to recruit Zemo for the Thunderbolts. So let’s see how all of this goes. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier hits Disney+ in August.
