Fan Theory Reveals Who Black Widow Was Talking to in Avengers: Endgame Trailer
The trailer of Avengers: Endgame dropped online a few days ago and it took the internet by storm. After Avengers: Infinity War left the fans reeling and gasping for air at the very end, the fans are eagerly waiting to see what happens next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Thanos won the battle with the Earth’s mightiest heroes and wiped out half of all life in the universe. The next movie in line, which would be a continuation of Infinity War, is Avengers: Endgame and will deal with events that take place immediately after those of Avengers: Infinity War.
The trailer only revealed about two minutes worth of footage and fans have already dug in and studied every nook and cranny of it to realize every little detail they could find. One such scene they were researching on was the one where Black Widow is talking to someone.
Depending on the fact that who she was talking to in a scene which had some extremely creative camera work that kept the other person in the conversation out of the frame, we could have some extremely important info regarding Endgame in our hands. Presenting – Fan Theory reveals who Black Widow was talking to in Avengers Endgame trailer!
The main web page that has been at the forefront of studying and dissecting theories related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and related TV Shows is the subreddit page /r/MarvelStudios. While on a routine discussion regarding the MCU, one fan called RokuAang625 explained his version of a theory as to who Black Widow was talking to in the Endgame trailer! He stated and we quote:
When Black Widow says, “Thanos did exactly what he intended to do, he wiped out 50% of the world’s population.” She’s probably explaining it to Scott Lang/Ant-Man or Clint Barton/Hawkeye since they’re the only two avengers who are alive who weren’t aware of Thanos and his plans from r/marvelstudios
As we hear Black Widow explaining the situation to the other guy, we could hear her saying Thanos managed to do exactly what he wanted with the Infinity Gauntlet and carry out universal genocide in the name of restoring back “Balance” to creation. The other guy in the conversation clearly has no knowledge prior to the conversation with Black Widow. This means that it has to be a superhero that was not in Infinity War. And there are only two contenders that are alive and kicking that could fill that criterion. So, it is either the master archer Hawkeye or the shrinking weirdo Ant-Man.
There are other theories around this nifty little detail in the same subreddit page as well. One theory claims that the Black Widow scene is just creating unnecessary hype and should be dealt with as it is – a trailer scene that bears no significance to the overall plot direction of the movie.
Waywardson74 says:
“Or… it’s a trailer, and that line might not even be in the movie,” added Waywardson74. “I mean, c’mon, they wasted CGI on putting the Hulk in Wakanda fighting alongside everyone, and only used it in the trailer. What’s 20 minutes of ScarJo’s time for some lines.”
Or maybe it is Captain Marvel? She has probably managed to make her way back to Earth after the events of her upcoming Captain Marvel movie and Black Widow is briefing her with a sit-rep.
Reddit user planterstick has another theory on the subject:
“I thought she was talking strategy with Cap,” planterstick suggests. “Cap is probably trying to figure out what’s Thanos’ next move because that’s the only villain he knows and she’s explaining to him that this is different. He’s done what he said he’s going to do, there is no next play.”
There are other candidates who could fill that role. Maybe it is Pepper Potts or even General Thunderbolt Ross who are trying to make heads and tails of the situation. But our best bet is that it is Scott Lang aka Ant-Man. In the trailer, we see Scott right at the gates of the Avengers HQ. From the look and feel of the scene, he is now inside the building and Black Widow is giving him the talk and prepping him for the upcoming battle.
