Avengers 4 Theory:  This Time Travel Twist for Tony Stark Will Blow Your Brains

There have been so many theories surrounding the upcoming mega-crossover event of MCU and yet, we always get a new Avengers 4 Theory every now and then. Since Marvel is not giving us anything, the fans are going pretty hard at predicting what insane things will happen in the upcoming film. So, one thing that you need to consider is that all these are just mere theories so they may or may not come true.

Even if you do find a remarkable theory, don’t bet all your money upon it as there’s a very high chance that the theory won’t be the actual reality. The creatives of the upcoming film have always admitted this for a fact that Avengers 4 doesn’t really do what we think it will. Even after so many things have been out due to set leaks and rumors, there is so much we still don’t know about the film. For God’s sake, we don’t even know the title of the movie yet, let alone knowing about the plot of the film.

Avengers 4 Lego Iron Man Quantum Realm

But we aren’t fully unaware of everything in the film. Set leaks and certain interviews have confirmed the fact we will get Time Travel in the film, and the film will heavily involve Quantum Realm. It is highly plausible that Tony & Scott will surely be amongst the first two individuals who will travel back in time to prevent the snap from ever happening.

Keeping Tony’s time travel in mind, Redditor ch671 speculates that not only will Stark journey back to this time, but he’ll performing a dark little switcheroo which will actually change everything in the MCU. The theory given by the Reddit user states that Tony will choose to kill off his own past self.

Here’s what it says:

“Tony Stark actually died when he went through the portal and the future Tony Stark replaced him and made it back through time at that exact moment! Remember this was the only chance Tony from the future had to switch places with the Tony from the past. The portal closed on him as he was about to fall through so he was actually left stranded in space. Or he was somewhere in between. Could those two seconds of yellow lightning have anything to do with the quantum realm/time travel. We know from Ant Man and the Wasp that Quantum realm is yellowish in color, exactly like those two seconds.”

Now, the first thing that you will be thinking over here is that none of this could be possible even in fiction! The Redditor is trying to somehow incorporate the Quantum Realm here but we can’t be certain of that. And he does try to answer the big question mark in this theory, which is that how can Tony Stark kill his past self.

Here’s the big answer you’re looking for:

“How can there be a Tony from the future if Tony died in the portal? This one is obvious. The original Tony was supposed to come back but Tony from the future realized it’s better to switch suits and let the old Tony die. Maybe everything that happened after Avengers 1 happened because Tony Stark from future made it back. In an alternate universe where the old Tony died and the future Tony didn’t make it back, things go a lot worse for Avengers without Tony. Maybe that’s why he sees a vision of them dead in Avengers 2 and decides to build Ultron. Maybe Dr. Strange knows Tony from Infinity war HAS to make the trip back in time to ensure things go as they do, and that’s the only one in 14 million chance that they have. Obviously this is time-paradoxical and very hypothetical but since when has something like that stopped sci-fi movies from imagining.”

What the Redditor is trying to convey here is that up till now, thing have gone the way they were supposed to, but with Tony switching himself from his past version and letting him stranded in outer space will create a paradox event which is supposed to carry the theory forward. But after all this consideration, this theory falls flat upon its own logic as the moment Tony Stark from the past dies, the existence of future Tony Stark be ceased. An entirely alternate timeline will be created where the events post the Avengers would not involve Iron Man.

This is a highly unlikely theory as Marvel cannot just go outright and kill their main man. But just imagine if Tony erased himself from Existence this was, the Earth might have lost its best defender, but there are a lot of other problems that might have never occurred!

For starters, no Ultron, no Vision, no Civil War. The Avengers would rather be more united than ever under Steve. Tony will have died a hero. They might not have had Iron Man, but they would have faced together, so things may have been more favorable without Tony? Iron Man is not equal to all the Avengers combined, but he certainly is the most important member, so the Avengers might still have lost even when they would have been united, but still, without Tony.

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
