Sebastian Stan Reveals What He Did When He Put the Winter Soldier Arm On for the First Time
Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier or White Wolf is one of the most merciless super soldiers that is now more powerful than Captain America. He is the best friend of Steve Rogers, they fought Nazis together in WW-II but then he was brainwashed by H.Y.D.R.A and turned into a one-man army. He did the bidding of Baron Zemo for a while, later he joined Team Cap in the Civil war.
At the Earth’s Mightiest Show, he said that he didn’t indulge in the robot, but he did enjoy sound effects and punching things.
“I did not do the robot,” Stan said. “I was just more like going around like grabbing things left and right, making sound effects and I think they were always like telling me ‘you know you don’t have to do those sound effects when you do the punches’ but [I] couldn’t help it.”
He has compared changes in Bucky’s prosthetic arm since the time it was introduced to his character’s progression, and now that he fell victim to Thanos Snap, the journey of his character and arm has come to an end.
“The first arm that was in the Winter Soldier movie, the material was really hard, and it was very hard to actually move in it… but it actually informed the way I was moving at the time because it was just like carrying this thing, so it totally affected me in a great way,” Stan said.
“It made me discover the character in a way. And so, I guess to some extent, so does he. He’s just becoming more comfortable in his own shoes and arm as he’s progressively getting older.”
He recently said in Wizard World Philadelphia while interacting with a group of Marvel fans:
“I remember the day on set and James Young, who is one of my talented, glorious stuntmen … on this film, came up to me and told me what was happening,” Stan explained.
“And I was like, ‘maybe this is it.’ And I remember Anthony [Russo] was talking to everybody, and I was like, ‘Anthony, do- OK, I’ll wait. Uh, do- am I- uh, is this it?’ And he was like ‘No, well, you know, maybe. But not really. Well, I don’t know.’ So, that’s the way that day went.”
He added: “I think fans should be prepared for some very intense surprises in Avengers 4. My brother Anthony Russo and I believe in stakes; I believe that everything has to come to an end at some point, in order for it to have value, and so I think the audience should be prepared.”
In an interview, he likened his character with GOT’s Jon Snow in terms of the insurmountable odds that both characters have to conquer. He said:
“I feel a lot like that Jon Snow character [in] ‘Battle of the Bastards.’ When there’s that shot of Jon Snow, from the back as horses are charging at him and he’s just standing there, that’s kind of how I feel on set at times. Will I make this stampede or not?”
Well, Jon Snow literally came back from the dead. Will Bucky be resurrected in Avengers 4? Guess, time will tell.
Avengers: Infinity War is right now available in digital edition and soon it’s Blu Ray/ DVD will also be released on August 14th. The official movie synopsis reads:
