Here’s Why Thanos Is The Dumbest Cosmic Supervillain In The MCU!

Avengers: Infinity War is now officially the highest grossing superhero movie ever and among the top five of all times, as it earned $2.1 Billion worldwide. The big reason why Infinity War became a massive success is that of the epic portrayal of Thanos onscreen.

The Mad Titan Thanos has been teased by Marvel for a decade to be this dreaded, evil and formidable villain who would be the toughest adversary that Avengers had ever faced. He came in the post-credits of Avengers: Age of Ultron carrying Infinity gauntlet and said “Ok, let me do it myself”.

And he indeed was, as our worst fears came true in the end. He not only overpowered Avengers assemble but snapped his fingers after collecting all six Infinity Stones, as a result, half of all life in the universe wiped out forever, including half of the superheroes turned into dust.

Here’s what Russos said about Thanos prior to release of Infinity War:

“This is it. Thanos is an unstoppable villain he’s virtually invincible, he’s highly intelligent – genius level intelligent – he’s like the Genghis Khan of the universe, and to stop him it’s going to cost them a lot. They’re going to have to see if they’re willing to pay that price, and that’s what these movies are really about”.

They added that Thanos would steal Infinity stones as he traverses the galaxy, leaving a trail of death and destruction. Here’s what they said:

“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration.”

You must be thinking what’s wrong in what they said….right?? Well, let’s analyze what his masterplan truly was and how it would totally fail in the end.

Thanos claimed that his mission is to rebalance the universe by eliminating half of its population, hence the remaining half can live with dignity as the resources are scarce. He retired after he achieved his goal to watch the sunshine on a grateful universe. Either he is delusional or the dumbest villain alive.

When he snapped his fingers, it’s not just half the population that was exterminated but the entire eco-systems (plants, animals) uprooted and destroyed. So how can the remaining half survive in this new environment? Even if we go past the natural food chain which will be disrupted, but if half the bee population is wiped out, it will lead to catastrophic famines or if half of all trees are no longer there, it will take few months before the remaining souls die of poisonous air.

Further, even if half the population is gone, it will take another century or two centuries to reach the same number once again through reproduction. Does to plan to regulate that? Will he again snap his fingers when the resources fall short? Guess, this is the most un-intelligent plan by a Mad Cosmic creature who is a radical overlord instead of someone with best interests of the galaxy. This will actually ‘unbalance the universe’ literally.

The official movie synopsis of Avengers Infinity War is as follows:

“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment”.
