Here’s How The Greatest Villain of Captain America Returns In Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest and probably the best MCU movie ever. This was not your typical Marvel movie which is just a light-hearted fun adventure, but it was way more than that, having real stakes and consequences. The movie was a complete package as it had emotion, drama, suspense, thrill, humor, sci-fi moments and hardcore action. The movie ended in the most thrilling way possible and you would never have seen it coming and seeing the end we all had our jaws dropped on the floor.

The Russos and Marvel were really secretive about this project that they went up to the extent of giving actors fake scripts and having fake items present on the sets of Avengers: Infinity War. This movie was kept really close to the chest and only a handful of people behind the scenes, a handful of actors and the president of Marvel, Kevin Feige knew the entire script of the movie. Seeing the movie in theatres, we got to know that why was Marvel keeping everything a big secret regarding this movie and Avengers 4.

So many utterly shocking things happened in this movie, and no other Superhero movie of this level has ever been able to give us the insane amount of thrill and suspense that this movie has provided us. The end was obviously shocking but the most surprising part of the movie was not even the Soul Stone. We got a hint as to what reveals Marvel may be hiding for the Soul Stone right in the beginning of the movie with the expression of the Soul Stone, but the place and the person who we may find with the Soul Stone was the biggest surprise of all.

Yes, we are talking about the astonishing return of the greatest villain of Captain America, the Red Skull. Fans have wished really hard to see the return of Red Skull in the MCU, but actor Hugo Weaving who previously played the character had always denied the return of the great villain. His return was totally unexpected in this movie as fans had never anticipated the when (Infinity War) and the way (Guarding the Stone) he would return in this movie.

We previously saw Red Skull being beamed somewhere into the cosmos in Captain America: The First Avenger when he held the Space Stone in his hands, but then with Hugo Weaving’s demotivating statements about the great villain’s return, people always thought that their wish may never come true now, and Avengers: Infinity War was the movie where he was least expected to show up.

Being sent into space, the movie revealed that the Red Skull had been dropped onto the planet Vormir, where the Soul Stone was situated. Here for almost a lifetime, he was sort of doomed into a purgatory, as he has been sort of guarding the Soul Stone for a better part of 70+ years, showing people the path to the Soul Stone. As Thanos and Gamora reach Vormir, Red Skull appeared and led them to the path of the stone, telling them that how he was exiled here when he held an Infinity Stone, and how he has been guarding the Soul Stone ever since then as he cannot claim the Stone for himself.

After Thanos got the Soul Stone, Red Skull just disappeared and we don’t know whether he’s free of his curse or can he still return in the next movie as well. Seeing the Red Skull, many fans wished Thanos to make him join his army and take him to Earth, only to face Captain America. The expression upon Cap’s face would be worth looking at if Cap and Red Skull would get to face off again. But that may have drifted the movie apart from the main narrative.

So let’s see whether the surprising return of the great villain does have a greater significance, and does he return in the next movie as well. Only time will find out when Avengers 4 hits the theatres next year. Avengers: Infinity War is currently playing in the theatres and Avengers 4 will come out on May 3, 2019. Here’s the official Synopsis of Avengers: Infinity War:

“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
