10 Big MCU Characters Who Did Not Appear In Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War is out and all the fanboys in the world have been provided with the ultimate satisfaction. The movie delivered on every aspect. It had emotion, drama, suspense, thrill, humor, sci-fi moments and hardcore action. Fans going into the movie would not be able to see what’s coming no matter how much they think they know about the movie.

This movie was the ultimate thriller pleasing anyone and everyone. Still, it may have disappointed some fanboys having the dream of seeing the entire MCU united upon the big screen at once. Here are the characters who totally missed out on an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War:

Hawkeye

Well, the first contender on this list has to be none other than Hawkeye. He was one of the main 6 and deserved to be in the movie. But the Russos have planned something really big which will pay off big time in the long run. He is confirmed to return in Avengers 4 but not as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye but as Ronin. Currently, he is under house arrest after he took the deal.

But now we know, Thanos snapped his fingers after he got all six Infinity stones, which resulted in wiping off half the humanity. It is speculated that Clint’s family members will turn into ash, something that will push him to the breaking point and motivate him to pursue a darker path as Ronin.

Ant-Man

Just like Hawkeye, Ant-Man was also being hyped to have a late appearance in the movie, but as it turned out, both these heroes were out in the film as they had made a deal with the government to be on House Arrest after they were freed by Cap in Civil War. It was speculated that maybe he is in the form of ant helping Avengers defeat Thanos but he was nowhere to be found.

Well, the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp will be a prequel story which will explain where Ant-Man has been all this time and possibly why he was not able to make it to Infinity War. he is surely going to be in Avengers 4 having an essential role as he has been seen in multiple set photos.

The Wasp

Well, since Ant-Man was not there, we could expect the same thing on the part of the Wasp. Her absence will also be touched in the movie. Evangeline Lilly previously mentioned in an interview that she is going to have a role in Avengers 4, but it is not going to be really big. Here’s what she said:

“I am shooting both but a lot less so than Paul. My character is a lot less prominent in Avengers than his is. I’ve only done one day on Avengers thus far, and then I do some more after I wrap on Ant-Man and the Wasp, but they will come back to back”.

Valkyrie

Thor: Ragnarok had Valkyrie play a really important part in the movie. She was the last Valkyrie left who made Planet Sakaar her new base. She then joined Revengers and helped Thor take down Goddess of Death ‘Hela’.

valkyrie in Avengers: Infinity War

But in Infinity War, it was as if that she was wiped out of the face of the Universe even without a mention. She is assumed to be dead as the movie opens up with Thanos on Thor’s ship and blowing it to pieces with no survivors except him. But was her absence deliberate? Did she leave the ship in an escape pod to get help when the battle started? Also, Tessa Thompson has been pitching for an all-female superhero movie which means she does have a role in Avengers 4. Well, it is a huge ask but I guess we’ll probably find out next year.

Korg

Korg was probably the best character in Thor: Ragnarok except for Thor. He was just perfect and everywhere he was involved, the scenes were totally lit up. We were surely not done with Taika Waititi’s character and expected to see him appear in Infinity War. But, similar to Valkyrie, he may either be dead or out there in the cosmos.

Phil Coulson and the Agents of SHIELD

Coulson is a very special character and the fans needed to see him at least be back with the Avengers, contributing as much as he can. Moreover, it would have been really amazing to see Daisy Johnson aka Quake fight along with the rest of the Avengers.

The Agents of SHIELD could have done some damage and contributed a lot in the fight against Thanos. But the good news for Coulson fans is that he will be seen in the upcoming Captain Marvel solo movie.

Defenders and The Punisher

Well, we know that TV characters cannot appear in the movie division, but just imagine, seeing all these Netflix characters show up in Infinity War, teaming up with Cap and the Avengers. It would have been amazing to see as they have some real heavy hitters.

Moreover, the Punisher could have been an awesome addition to the mix. The character developments would have been insane as Marvel is moving towards somber and darker stories slowly, so the Netflix characters could start to fit somewhere in there.

Ghost Rider

Again this is a TV character, but it is a big one. Ghost Rider is a huge character in the comics, and an appearance with the Avengers would have been insane to see. But in the MCU, he does not have a big connection with the wider world, and in fact, he has not even appeared once in Season 5 of AoS till now.

Hank Pym

Just like Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hank Pym was also away from the world of the Avengers and will probably be the same for the rest of his appearances. But his expertise and experience would have helped a lot with all the scientifically genius people in the movie.

He will definitely show up in Avengers 4 as Sebastian Stan aka White Wolf admitted to having a scene with him and Michelle Pfeiffer’s character i.e Janet Van Dyne.

Captain Marvel

The big Easter Egg and a hint at the plot of the upcoming two MCU movies came right at the end of Avengers: Infinity War in the post-credits scene. Nick Fury and Agent Maria Hill appeared for the first time in the post-credits, and right before dying, Fury managed to send a distress beacon or a sort of signal to Captain Marvel, setting her two future upcoming movie appearances in Captain Marvel and Avengers 4. But, how amazing would have been if she would have been in this movie itself.

Kevin Feige announced Captain Marvel solo movie at Comic-Con 2017 which will be set in 1990’s, based on Kree-Skrull wars. The actress Brie Larson has been cast as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. Here’s what Kevin Feige said at Comic-Con:

“All of the Marvel characters have flaws to them, all of them have a deep humanity to them. With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we’ve ever put in a movie. Her powers are off the charts, and when she’s introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we’ve ever had. It’s important, then, to counterbalance that with someone who feels real. She needs to have a humanity to tap into, and Brie can do that.”

Avengers Infinity War is currently running successfully in theaters. Directed by Russo Brothers. Produced by Kevin Feige & Co. The script is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Here is the official synopsis:

“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
