With Black Panther just 2 weeks away and Infinity War just 3 months away, the hype for these upcoming movies is pretty high with all the trailers and marketing of the movies. We know quite a bit about these movies but still, have a lot of questions in our minds especially about Infinity War.
Recently, Marvel dropped a trailer for Avengers Infinity War, the grandest comic-book extravaganza which will feature over 40 of our beloved superheroes as they fight against the Mad Titan and his Black Order in a quest to steal Infinity Gems. Thanos wants nothing less than become the ultimate ruler of entire cosmos and for that, he requires all the six Infinity stones to assemble all-powerful gauntlet which grants user god-like powers.
Here’s what “The Collector,” said about the Infinity gems:
“Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots… Infinity Stones.”
Five of the six Infinity gems have already been discovered but Soul stone is yet to be found. It is speculated that it is hidden somewhere in the Kingdom of Wakanda ruled by Black Panther. Till now, Thanos has two Infinity gems – Space stone (Tesseract) and Power stone (Orb) already in possession. We saw in the trailer how Black Order was extracting mind gem from Vision’s forehead. So three down, three more to go.
In the official trailer for Avengers Infinity War, we saw Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier fighting alongside Steve Rogers aka Captain America and lending his support to stop Thanos’ Black Order from getting their hands on Infinity Gem. Clearly, he has woken from his cryo-sleep he was put under at the end of Civil War.
One of these big questions is about the Winter Soldier, as we saw in Civil War that everyone was trying to hunt him down considering he had bombed the UN summit being framed by Baron Zemo for doing it.
The character of Black Panther was introduced into the MCU in Captain America: Civil War where he lost his father and held Winter Soldier responsible for the attacks on UN building. He chased him down as part of Team Iron Man and rest is history.
At the end of Civil War, we saw that T’Challa had realized that all this time he was after the wrong person for killing his father, the king of Wakanda, T’Chaka. Then in the post-credits scene, we saw that Captain America and The Winter Soldier were indeed with T’Challa in Wakanda and Winter Soldier who had lost in the battle against Iron Man was being put into cryo-sleep until his brain could be fixed.
Now, The Avengers Infinity War Prelude comic actually tells us how all this got into place. In this, we see Captain America, Bucky, and T’Challa all sort of working together. The comic reveals that T’Challa has sort of forgiven Bucky for the crimes he has committed and thanks him for uncovering the plot that Zemo had a hand in T’Chaka’s death, framed him and also scrambled his mind yet again.
All three of them agreed to take Bucky to Wakanda and put him into the refrigerator until what Hydra did to his brain could be fixed. And rightly so, it was for the best of everyone as it totally prevents any more incidents from happening. Now this comic dives deep into this as it is revealed that how will his brain get fixed and who is going to do that.
Shuri, the sister of T’Challa is said to be even smarter than Tony Stark himself, and we saw in the trailers that she is the one who creates the new Black Panther suit with the amazing tech in it. In the prelude, she is seen to be working on Bucky’s condition as she will be the one who unscrambles Bucky’s brain and will try to undo what Hydra has already done to his brain.
Honestly, it is amazing the way everything is being tied together as it all makes sense. In the Infinity War trailer, we saw Bucky back on his feet and fighting the war along with Black Panther, Captain America and the rest of the Avengers.
We also see that he does have a new metal arm, possibly made up of Vibranium. So at this point of time, his brain has probably been fixed by Shuri and a new arm has been attached to him as well. What is even better this time around is that if we notice closely, we can see that the new Vibranium arm which the Winter Soldier now has as a bit of Gold interweaved in it as well.
Now, what exactly is this golden metal, is it just an African tribal design that has been added to the armor does it actually does something different and makes Bucky even stronger.
This could very well be a refined version of Vibranium as well which the Wakandan’s have managed to extract and it may be even stronger than the silver one. Who knows, we will have to wait and see as the entire thing uncovers.
Bucky could be woken up towards the credit scenes of Black Panther as it does have 2 post-credit scenes, or he may be brought back in Infinity War itself.

Black Panther will hit the theaters on February 16, 2018, and Avengers Infinity War, the biggest Superhero ensemble is coming out on 27th April 2018 in most parts of the world and on May 4, 2018, in the US. After that, Ant-Man and the Wasp which will be the third movie of the MCU this year will come out on July 6, 2018, and we will have an action-packed Marvel year.
