2017 was a big year for Hollywood and a similar fate is expected for 2018. There are a lot of big movies coming out this year and even though there will be a lot of superhero movies coming out, there are various non-superhero movies as well that we are looking forward to. Here is a list of some of the most awaited ones:
Maze Runner: The Death Cure
Fans of the series are in for a treat as the series comes to a conclusion with the last movie (unless they decide to make the prequel). Thomas and friends must find the cure for the disease caused by the flare in this conclusion. Originally scheduled to release earlier this year, the film was delayed because of injuries sustained on set by its star, Dylan O’Brien. The film will be the final chapter in the dystopian series and will now hit the theatres on January 26, 2018.
Annihilation
Set to release on February 23, this movie shows a biologist whose husband disappears in an abandoned part of US that has been reclaimed by nature. Scary things start happening as she enters this abandoned land and she might have to fight nature herself. Natalie Portman stars as the biologist, with Oscar Isaac as her husband.
Tomb Raider
The reboot of the hit franchise of Angelina Jolie’s Lara Croft looks pretty good. Even though the actress cast in the role of Lara Croft is not as big as Angelina Jolie, it still seems that the movie would do quite well with the reports that have hit the internet till now. The movie is scheduled to release on March 16.
Rampage
For all the fans of the Rock, we have good news. You will soon watch him in a sci-fi movie called ‘Rampage’. Dwayne Johnson plays the head of an anti-poaching unit who seeks to find a way to reverse the mutations on the animals before they destroy every city they come in contact with. The director has claimed that it will be filled with action and will be an emotional and scary ride. The movie will hit the theatres on April 20.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Han Solo is probably the most favorite character in the entire Star Wars franchise and fans were really sad to see him die in the previous episode. Star Wars: The Force Awakens continued the franchise by actually giving it a new beginning and fans were really happy about it, but they still did not know the backstory about their favorite character. Well, now they are getting a prequel about Solo and Alden Ehrenreich is going to play the beloved character. The movie is coming out on May 25.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
The sequel to the record-breaking Jurassic World is set to come out in 2018 and it is scheduled for a June 22 release. Chris Pratt is going to reprise his role along with Bryce Dallas Howard. The movie will continue the story of the first movie further and take us to new thrilling Dinosaur adventures.
The Nun
Releasing on July 13, 2018, The Nun is probably the most anticipated movie in the Horror genre considering the impact the character had in the 2016’s hit The Conjuring 2. The character was so effective in striving fear in our hearts that it actually leads to a solo movie centering the Nun.
Mission Impossible 6
The 6th installment in the hit series starring Tom Cruise is going to hit the theatres on July 27, 2018. Fans are really excited for another adventurous impossible action flick and this time it is going to be much bigger and better as it is bringing in the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill as well. It is going to be much better because it will feature the story of Ethan Hunt’s past and will focus on who he is.
The Predator
An upcoming sci-fi action horror flick is the fourth installment of the ‘Predator’ franchise which is actually going to give it a new beginning. The film is set to have a fall release in 2018. It is directed by Shane Black and stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes and Jacob Tremblay. It will hit the theatres on August 3.
The Equalizer 2
Denzel Washington did a remarkable job in the first movie and people have been desperately waiting for a sequel ever since. Well, it is coming out on September 14, 2018, and will probably be even better than the previous one.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
The first Fantastic Beasts movie broke many records and lived up to the Harry Potter franchise as well, even though it was a prequel. At the end of the first movie, it was revealed that Johnny Depp is the real bad guy and he is going to reprise his role in the sequel. Fans are really excited for the movie and want this to hit the theatres as soon as possible. Well, the release date says otherwise, as they’ll have to wait until November 16, 2018.
Creed 2
Apollo Creed’s son who was played by actor Michael B Jordon is going to reprise his role in the movie along with the beloved character of Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa as his coach. The movie is bringing back one more beloved character from Rocky 4 who is the Russian boxer Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren. This is going to be a new chapter in the continued success story of Adonis Johnson/Creed.
