Harry Potter had the rivalry with the dark lord itself, right from his birth. He encountered the dark lord, death eaters and other dark wizards many times during his early life. This made him develop the peculiar interest in this subject. He cast the spell Patronus Charm, a shield against the death eaters, in Harry Potter and Prisoners of Azkaban. According to Dumbledore, only a very powerful wizard could do that. He won an “outstanding” in defense against dark arts in OWL. Even Hermoine failed to get that. He has fought against dark lord and won at the end.
2. A Skilled Duelist
He was one of the finest duelists of his time. Harry Potter had a duel with Voldemort in Harry Potter And Goblet Of Fire, inherit in which he gave a tough competition to him. At the end too Harry had a duel with his enemy, which was one by him. He not only had defeated the Lord himself but fought really with other wizards too. He was the only one of the six Dumbledore’s Army members to be neither injured nor incapacitated during the battle with Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
3. A brilliant Flyer And Seeker
Harry was the youngest seeker. He inherits ant this talent from his father, who was the finest captain in his school time. In Harry Potter And the Goblet of fire, he was able to defeat the dragon, with help of his excellent flying skills. He won his first Quidditch match as a seeker and captained it in his sixth year at Hogwarts.
4. Practiced Legilimency (indirectly)
The act of reading other’s mind, thoughts and feelings are known as Legilimency. Harry Potter possessed this power due to his connection with Voldemort. He was a Horcrux, which enabled him to read the thoughts and mind of Voldemort. He was connected to the Lord Voldemort, due to the childhood accident. Once when Severus Snape was teaching him occulmency, he practiced legilimency, unknowingly. He read the childhood memories of Severus Snape.
5. Parseltongue
He could speak the language of snakes, due to his connection with Voldemort. His this power got extinguished once the Horcrux within Harry was destroyed. In Harry Potter and chambers of secrets, Harry spoke to a snake, while training, without realizing the fact he could speak to snakes. The first time he spoke to snakes was in Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone, when he went to the zoo on his cousin’s birthday. His skill enabled him to open the chambers of secrets.
