Action movies always have a prominent place in Hollywood and so does the action heroes. There are countless action flicks which we could watch multiple times without getting bored. But, that’s not the case with every action movie. There are some action flicks which gained much hype and expectations before its release and the exact opposite happened after the release. Here, we are considering such action flicks and let’s have a look at top 10 worst action movies.
A Good Day to Die Hard
A Good Day to Die Hard is directed by John Moore and was released in the year 2013. The star cast of the movie includes Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Yuliya Snigir, and Sebastian Koch. This movie is the fifth installment in the Die Hard franchise and Bruce Willis reprised the role of John McClane. In the movie, John McClane and his son work together to stop a Russian villain from seizing uranium. To be frank, this one was an unnecessary installment with full of clichés and stunts which redefined physics.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is directed by Michael Bay and was released in the year 2009. The star cast of the movie includes Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro. This movie is the second installment in the Transformers movie franchise. The first movie was good and had its own moments, whereas the second part is a complete mess lacking human elements. The trademark ‘destruction’ of Michael Bay is visible throughout the film.
Bangkok Dangerous
Bangkok Dangerous is directed by the Pang Brothers (Danny Pang Phat and Oxide Pang Chun) and was released in the year 2008. The star cast of the movie includes Nicolas Cage, Charlie Young, Chakrit Yamnan, and Panward Hemmanee. This movie is a reboot of the 1999 Thai film of the same name, which was also directed by the Pang Brothers. The movie tells the story of a hitman who never leaves a single trace after his assignments. The movie is slow-paced and lacks the momentum, which is an integral part of any action flick. The original film was pretty decent and how could the same directors make the reboot a much inferior one still remains an unanswered question.
XXX: State of the Union
XXX: Sate of the Union is directed by Lee Tamahori and was released in the year 2005. The star cast of the movie includes Ice Cube, Samuel L. Jackson, Willem Dafoe, and Sunny Mabrey. This movie is a sequel to the 2002 film XXX, in which Vin Diesel played the lead role. Ice Cube plays the role of the new XXX agent and he failed miserably. The popularity of Vin Diesel due to the Fast and Furious movie helped the first part to become a box-office success. The first part also had some real cool stunts whereas the second part relied more on the CGI-heavy action.
Far Cry
Far Cry is directed by Uwe Boll and was released in the year 2008. The star cast of the movie includes Til Schweiger, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Michael Paré, and Udo Kier. This movie is adapted from a video game of the same name. The movie focuses on the survival of a group of mercenaries in an isolated island against mutants. The movie is awful and spoiled the name of the video game which gained extremely positive reviews. It’s also our fault to expect something neat from the director of Alone in the Dark (2005), and BloodRayne (2005).
Abduction
Abduction is directed by John Singleton and was released in the year 2011. The star cast of the movie includes Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, and Maria Bello. The movie tells the story of an 18-year-old guy who discovers that what he believed about his past were not true and soon he becomes the target of Serbian terrorists. The movie is a mere imitation of the Bourne films and deviates from the main story plot several times. Abduction is an easily forgettable action flick, which followed the same pattern of the action genre without any considerable differences.
Batman & Robin
Batman & Robin is directed by Joel Schumacher and was released in the year 1997. The star cast of the movie includes George Clooney, Chris O’ Donnell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alicia Silverstone, and Uma Thurman. This DC comic books adaptation is a complete failure in every sense. George Clooney’s performance seemed like he never wanted to be a part of this project and someone was forcing him to perform. It’s really sad to say that this movie spoiled the career of Chris O’ Donnell. The movie is so bad that director Joel Schumacher had to apologize for it.
Speed 2: Cruise Control
Speed 2: Cruise Control is directed by Jan de Bont and was released in the year 1997. The star cast of the movie includes Jason Patric, Sandra Bullock, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, and Glenn Plummer. This movie is a sequel to the 1994 flick Speed which was a blockbuster hit. Speed was extremely thrilling and the action sequences were well choreographed. The successor failed miserably in both these aspects. Who would care for a long slow-paced boring journey? Well, this is what Speed 2: Cruise Control has to offer you.
Ultraviolet
Ultraviolet is directed by Kurt Wimmer and was released in the year 2006. The star cast of the movie includes Milla Jovovich, Kurt Wimmer, Cameron Bright, Nick Chinlund, and William Fichtner. The movie tells the story of a woman affected by a vampire-like disease and her fight against the government who are on a mission to kill everyone affected with this disease. We have seen much similar stuff from Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil films and here also, she just had to repeat the same things.
Ballistics: Ecks vs. Sever
Ballistics: Ecks vs. Sever is directed by Kaos and was released in the year 2002. The star cast of the movie includes Antonio Banderas, Lucy Liu, Gregg Henry, Ray Park, and Talisa Soto. The movie tells the story of two secret agents who personally hates each other, but is forced to team up for a mission. The story and screenplay are extremely weak and the movie is filled with many brainless action scenes. No wonder why the movie became a huge disaster at the box-office. Ballistics: Ecks vs. Sever is definitely one of the worst action flicks ever made.
