Will Sony Let SPIDER-MAN Feature In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR ?

Spider-Man made history of sorts when he made a cameo in Captain America: Civil War. The film franchise was brought to the silver screen by Sony but is still technically a part of Marvel. And it is very rare to see studios collaborating in films for their money making franchises. But MCU did the impossible and brought back their webbed hero for a stint in Civil War. But the question remains if Sony would officially allow Spider-Man in other Marvel films.

Avengers: Infinity War is said to be the magnum opus of Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film will bring together every superhero they have ever featured on the screen which has totaled up to 66 superheroes in counting. Infinity War based on the Infinity Gauntlet comic arc is about Titan king Thanos using the Infinity Gauntlet (a very powerful glove) to bring mass destruction to the universe, all to impress his lady love Death. Spider-Man was reported to be a part of the on-screen fight fest but it seems like it may still be in the works.

Actor Tom Holland was recently interviewed by Variety while promoting his new movie The Lost City Of Z. The topic of Spider-Man was, of course, not far from the corner and the actor obligingly answered all questions about his upcoming movie and Infinity War. Holland said, “It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is.”

While Holland’s answer may seem vague and somewhat disconcerting, it may not be the end all for Spider-Man’s fate at Marvel. If the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie is a success, both Marvel Studios and Sony will have much to gain from further collaborations. The actor could also simply be playing coy with the idea as the Avengers film details are held most secretively by the studios.
