Seinfeld intruded with the old-fashioned standard structure that had been followed in sitcoms from such a long time. It rather introduced audiences to the obnoxious jerk. This wasn’t just a character but was plotted as the protagonist. It changed how people viewed these sitcoms.

2. The Simpsons


If one is mentioning about the modern animation, then no one can ever skip talking about The Simpsons. It has got all the good reasons to be remembered as an animated show. This is the show that made everyone realize the fact that cartoons are not just for kids, they are for everyone.

Seinfeld redefined the sitcoms in the 1990’s. However, I Love Lucy gave birth to the sitcom as we know it the way for years. I love Lucy made certain things just so obvious. For instance, running storylines, multi-camera set-up etc. were brought into notice by “I Love Lucy”.

4. The Sopranos


There are a number of innovative types who have contributed to the kind of series we watch today, but there is one series which is above others. David Chase is the man behind the Sopranos. He was the one who had the guts to take the risk in the 90s.

5. The X-Files


The X-Files managed to make its own space and created its own audience. The show made viewers interested in paranormal. A whole new audience was created.
