Falcon and Winter Soldier – New Set Report Hints at the Debut of Thunderbolts

Falcon and Winter Soldier:  New Set Hints Debut of Thunderbolts

Black Widow or WandaVision will be kicking off Marvel’s Phase 4. As far as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is concerned, it will either be the third or the fourth MCU project to arrive in Phase 4. Disney has confirmed that WandaVision is still set to arrive in December 2020. So, that means that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will have until February or March to be done with its production and post-production. As of now, it is filming in Atlanta, GA, and a new set report has brought in some very interesting information regarding the Thunderbolts.

Along with Sam & Bucky, the recent set photos have shown us the return of Georges St-Pierre as Batroc the Leaper and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Two new cast members were also present on the set – Desmond Chiam and the Star Wars actor, Erin Kellyman. Reddit user and Marvel fan SplendaDaddy12 was able to witness the scene that St-Pierre, Chiam, and Kellyman shot together.

He stated that St-Pierre & Chiam were seen standing in a park near a bench, and Erin Kellyman was sitting on the bench. Then suddenly, she used some sort of power to impress the two bad guys. This ability will possibly be added in the post production stage. The use of her power made the extras on the set to look at their phones and then walk towards them. Charles Murphy from Murphy’s Multiverse connected the dots and deduced that Erin Kellyman could be playing Songbird.

Songbird is a prominent character of the Thunderbolts in the comics. So if Kellyman is actually playing Songbird in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, then it is possible that the series might be on the path of introducing the Thunderbolts. For now, Songbird, Batroc the Leaper, and Desmond Chiam’s mystery character could actually be a part of Baron Zemo’s Secret Society. They may be the villains in the series, going against Sam & Bucky. But by the end, Secretary Ross might recruit a few members of this team (preferably Zemo & Songbird) to be a part of his Thunderbolts team.

The first rumor of Thunderbolts started since 2018. The original twitter account of Roger Wardell, that got all of its scoops 100% accurate had reported that Zemo, Ghost, Justin Hammer, General Ross, and the Abomination will be a part of Thunderbolts. Now it is rumored that Ross might actually start the Thunderbolts in Black Widow by recruiting Taskmaster & Yelena Belova into the team. So not only could those two characters, but the likes of Ghost & Hammer could also have a cameo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, showing us the debut of the Thunderbolts. Then moving on to Phase 5, we could see them return in the She-Hulk series before getting their own Disney+ series or a film as Roger Wardell suggested about two years ago.

The Thunderbolts will be Marvel’s answer to DC’s Suicide Squad. Their team could offer a lot of variety & innovativeness with its characters as the number of villains is only going to grow in the coming two Phases. So, the more villains appear in the MCU, a higher number of them could be added into the Thunderbolts. Let’s wait and see if we will get a Thunderbolts series or a film.

For now, here’s how the whole slate of Phase 4 & 5 looks like – Black Widow releases on November 6, 2020, The Eternals on February 12, 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on May 7, 2021, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 on December 17, 2021, Thor: Love and Thunder on February 11, 2022, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25, 2022, Black Panther II on May 6, 2022, and Captain Marvel 2 on July 8, 2022. Blade, Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 & Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are also confirmed for future releases. As far as the TV shows are concerned, WandaVision will arrive on Disney+ in December 2020. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will follow it next year along with Loki, What if…? & maybe even Hawkeye. Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight & She-Hulk will possibly arrive in 2022.
