Avengers 4 will be the movie that gives us the big ending to whatever Marvel has done till now, and it will lay the base for the upcoming Phase 4 of the MCU. It has so many responsibilities to fulfil that you may even lose count. The plot of the movie has to be satisfying, it has to bring back all the characters who were disintegrated and assemble all the characters in the most epic way. Avengers 4 Post Credits Scene has to leave us speechless, wanting for more.
While there is still quite a lot of time left for the movie to come out as Marvel has not even started marketing Captain Marvel, let alone Avengers 4, but still, Infinity War has left us on many cliffhangers and left the plot of the next movie wide open. So, there are a number of theories which come into play and see very believable. While we do have confirmation that Time Travel will be a major element in the movie and the Quantum Realm will have a significant role to play, there still remains the question of how things are going to happen.
All the disintegrated characters are expected to return in Avengers 4, but it will not be in the very beginning. This would happen towards the third act of the movie as all the new characters including the 4 mentioned above and Valkyrie, Korg & Meik will also be taking part in the next big grand finale of the MCU. So let’s do a headcount. We have Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Widow, Hawkeye/Ronin, Okoye, M’Baku, War Machine, Rocket, Nebula, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Valkyrie, Korg & Meik who are left and will appear in the next movie. There are even rumours that suggest Quicksilver be back for the movie as well.
But if we notice over here, we actually have all the 6 original Avengers playing important roles in the plot of the next film. Having characters die in Infinity War allows these characters to have bigger story arcs. Almost all those dead characters will get revived towards the end for one final battle, and it is after that particular battle, that the fate of the characters will really be decided from there on. If you have been looking through the net for Avengers 4 spoilers pretty recently, then you probably would have found some reports that mention that Avengers 4 will actually get rid of almost all the original Avengers, leaving just 2 to survive for the future of the MCU.
The contracts of Downey, Evans, Ruffalo, Hemsworth and Renner will come to an end after Avengers 4. While 2 may survive to lead the MCU forward, there is also a rumour that suggests 2 of the original 6 will also die in Avengers 4. So if Marvel has to get rid of 4, they could easily choose to kill 2, and retire 2 from the MCU. RDJ and Evans have confirmed that they are already looking for a future beyond Marvel, and Renner has mentioned that he would not want to be around wearing tights when he turns 50 (which he will in the coming 3 years). Black Widow has at least 2 projects in the making after Avengers 4, so it is confirmed that ScarJo will stick around.
When it comes to killing off two big names, it has to be Captain America and Hawkeye. They cannot kill Iron Man in any way, he will just retire. Thor and Hulk cannot die either! Hulk is unkillable and he is currently going through a 3 story arc which will end after Avengers 4, so he will probably retire after that. Hemsworth, on the other hand, is open to renewing his contract so he may be the Avenger who could continue post-Avengers 4.
So, this brings us to the sad conclusion that Captain America has the highest chances of having a noble death at the end of Avengers 4. Well, a fan theory posted on Twitter suggests that Cap will indeed die, and the post-credits scene will leave us speechless with tears in our eyes. Have a look:
What Scarlet Witch showed the Avengers in Age of Ultron was either their future or their past as it has been proven by the plot of Thor: Ragnarok. Iron Man’s vision will come true in Avengers 4, and it leaves us with the question that where would the vision of Captain America fit. This suggestion of the Post Credits scene could very well be the place to fit that scene, as it signifies that Cap’s soul is finally at rest with the love of his life, and he can now have the dance which he promised.
This scene may give us a heartbreak, but it will be the perfect ending for Captain America!
