Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest movie the MCU has every produced, and it was surely one of the top 3, if not the best movie out of the 19 MCU movies we have seen in the last 10 years. These recent movies have presented some really amazing villains as none of the villains in these last 5 movies were actually bad, but the ones in the last 2 movies have taken it to a whole new level.
Both Killmonger and Thanos were the heroes of their own stories and their motivations were totally relatable with the audiences living in the real world. These two villains actually touched the bitter ugliness of the real world that we live in. The community of people with colour has suffered so much for so long and the racism still stays apparent in many parts of the world.
An even bigger truth was justified as the entire plot of Avengers: Infinity War was touched by Thanos, which was about bringing balance to the Universe as we have a rapidly increasing population with rapidly diminishing resources. So, Thanos showed us a world that actually may be able to lead a happy harmonious future without greed and poverty being stagnant in the world. But that came at the biggest price of losing half the population of the entire Universe.
He did achieve that at the end. But to achieve that, he had to sacrifice so many lives including the life of his beloved daughter who is the only being he actually loved. He loved her so much that he actually may have lied to her in order to reach out to her. In the movie, we saw that Thanos and his Chitauri troops killed half of the people on that planet (including Gamora’s mom) called the Zehoberi race for which Gamora has hated him all along. That is why she joined the Guardians turning against the Mad Titan.
But in the movie, we see the reunion of Thanos and Gamora, and Thanos reaches out to her by revealing the result of his doings against the Zehoberi race. He defended his actions by saying that the “children born have known nothing but full bellies and clear skies. It’s a paradise.” Well, in Guardians of the Galaxy, if you go back to the introduction of Gamora in the first Guardians movie, it was revealed that Gamora is the last of her race as the Zehoberi people were entirely slaughtered by Thanos, leaving her the only survivor.
This was believed to be a plot hole in the making, but as it turns out, an Infinity War fan actually suggested that Thanos may have actually lied about the Zehoberi planet in order to reach out to his beloved daughter, as the planet may be nothing but a barren wasteland now. Thanos’ motivations are relatable and the cause he seeks to achieve could be accomplished with the means he is pursuing, but if the outcome turns planets into wastelands, then he really is the Mad Titan we take him for.
“So- how’s it going, Thanos?” 😹 Please stop pointing out that it’s probably an inconsistency. I know, but the post is fun. Let me live. This fan posted on Instagram, stating that Thanos is nothing but a massive liar as he lied to his daughter. But given that the Soul Stone was presented to Thanos after Gamora’s sacrifice was the proof that he did truly love is daughter and that is why he may have actually lied to his daughter about her homeworld (t seek acceptance from her).
If Thanos’ harsh unthinkable actions do not even bring out the results that he seeks, then he does deserve the beating that is coming to him in Avengers 4, as the heroes will now take a final stand against him in order to take him down and possibly revert what he did in the movie. There is still time in Avengers 4 as it is coming out on May 3, 2019, but we can expect a total beat down given to him by the likes of Captain Marvel, Thor and the rest of the Avengers.
Here is the official synopsis for Avengers 4:
“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
