Marvel’s latest hero, Doctor Strange’s world has only been scratched upon. The Sorcerer Supreme is one of Marvel’s older superheroes who has a rich history and myths that has not yet been explored on film. With the massive success of Strange’s debut, it’s no doubt that a sequel will follow. But which character will be included? Many fans have hoped that Clea would make an appearance, and it seems someone else from the film agrees.
Doctor Strange screenwriter Joe Spaihts told website CBR that Clea would be a “compelling” character to include in the sequel. Spaihts said:
“She’s a really compelling character as a foil, a love interest, a colleague of Doctor Strange’s, and she always carries with her that width of mystery as to whether she is human, and how human, and what that means for his relationship to her. So we might find a way to introduce her to the story.”
Clea is one of the most important characters from the world of Doctor Strange. She is the niece of the demonic Dormammu but also a practitioner of magic like Doctor Strange. She has been a frequent love interest of Stephen Strange but has been on the precipice of falling into her darker demonic side. She is no doubt one of the harder characters to capture on film as the character could turn out to be more absurd than most. Spaihts addressed this in his interview with CBR. The writer said:
“She’s a tricky character to interpret because her uncle is a kind of fire-headed omnipotent god and she’s kind of a hot babe who studies magic. That’s a tricky relationship to bring out of a comic book and on to a movie screen.”
Since Marvel has been known to make a logical twist to every character on screen, it’s easy to believe that the same treatment will be given to a character like Clea. This is the Marvel which made viewers fall in love with a talking tree, so a magical alien may not be too hard for them.
