Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 3 Mid Season Finale: Agent Ward is Dead, Alien Ward is Alive

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has gone into a break after it aired the mid-season finale episode titled “Maveth” which means death. It has received mixed reviews from marvel fans and TV show correspondents. Many leading entertainment magazines and websites have expressed their disappointment on the direction that the show has taken after promising the moon in the beginning. But, we think that the mid-season finale of season 3 has been quite satisfying bringing closure to the pandora’s box it had opened.

In the last episode, we saw Rosalind being shot at by a sniper (Ward) killing her instantly, while she was having romantic dinner with Phil. It drove Coulson to the breaking point, so much so that he chased Ward to the distant planet by diving straight into the portal. The episode picked up from there as Ward and Fitz search for “The Ancient Mythical Creature” who is supposedly the creator of H.Y.D.R.A. On the other side, Mack is the acting Director of S.H.I.E.L.D in the absence of Coulson, he formulates a plan to infiltrate fortified Hydra’s compound to save Fitz, Simmons and Coulson. Simmons escaped and freed Dr. Andrew/Lash who subsequently killed all the In-humans stored in containers.

The major problem with the episode was that it felt too convenient and choreographed, stakes were’nt high and outcomes were predictable. You will have to assume that Ward is a rookie and not a trained, deadliest assassin who brought S.H.I.E.L.D to its knees, as he makes a series of unbelievable errors that does’nt suit a man of his caliber. Finally, Will reveals himself and attacks Fitz only to be shot by him twice (second time by flare gun by the way). Coulson was bloodthirsty and vowed to avenge Rosalind’s death, he crushed ribcage of Ward with his Bionic hand as Team Mack successfully executed its plan, took control of the situation, and opened the portal just in time to rescue both Fitz and Phil Coulson. But Ward managed to return possessed by an alien.
