It has been reported that Naomi Watts is going to play one of the most important roles in the Game of Thrones prequel series. The series is going to be written and produced by Jane Goldman but with the help of George R.R. Martin who is the author and has expressed his happiness after hearing the news that Naomi Watts is going to be in the cast of Game of Thrones prequel series by writing on his blog,
“I couldn’t be more excited. Welcome to Westeros, Naomi.”
But, there aren’t many clues or hints about her character in the series as the team of Game of Thrones hasn’t revealed much other than her name in the announcement. But, according to the report from Deadline it has been stated that Naomi Watts is going to play a very charismatic role in the series and is also hiding a secret with her.
Naomi isn’t going to be the only actress who is going to play a different kind of role as we’ve heard from the president of programming at HBO, Casey Bloys in an interview in July that there are going to be a lot more interesting and famous stars joining the cast of this series. He said,
“There are very strong female characters but it’s an ensemble, there are men and women,” Bloys explained to Deadline. “Jane is a very good writer; we don’t want to limit her to writing female leads. There are a lot of very complicated leads in (the pilot).”
There are reports that there are five potential projects lining up from the side of HBO and it has been explained that the series is going to take place a thousand years before the events of Game of Thrones and also according to a statement from HBO to The New York Times back in June it has been stated,
“The series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour,” HBO stated in a brief statement. “And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.”
So, we can predict something about the series we are going to have but if we talk about the recruitment of Naomi Watts then we have to admit that HBO has done a very great move by getting the signatures of Naomi Watts because we all know that the popularity and fan following she has in the world because of the movie she has worked in and also the performances she has given are also factors which play a crucial part in the idea of signing her for a role in this series.
Naomi Watts has been part of some of the most popular films such as The Ring (2002), 21 Grams (2003) is the movie for which he gained a nomination at the Academy Awards and also the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards in the category of Best Actress as she portrayed the role of Christina Peck, and many other great movies.
