Tony Stark aka Iron Man made his debut in 2008. The character started the era of MCU. Iron Man is now a character that is loved by everyone. In a few films, we might have seen him behaving in an arrogant manner. But at the same time, we cannot ignore that he was a good person. He has saved people from danger. The character’s demise in Avengers: Endgame had a very big impact on MCU fans. Now let’s have a look at the most selfish and proud things Iron Man has done.
1. Behavior towards Aldrich Killian (Selfish)
Tony Stark was a billionaire and genius at the same time. In Iron Man 3, Stark and Maya Hansen were approached by Aldrich Killian. Killian says that he has been following Hansen’s research. Tony then promises Killian to meet on the roof in five minutes but he never showed up. Eventually, Killian returned back later as the Mandarin. This is proof that Stark’s behavior of dismissing people led to the creation of his own demons.
2. A very good father (Proud)
Tony’s father Howard Stark was not always there with him. This has been clearly seen in most of the MCU movies. Despite that, he loved his father which led to his fight with Winter Soldier when it was revealed that he killed Howard. But maybe because of this, he became a better parent. Tony had to face numerous challenges in MCU in order to get that position. But it made us happy to see him as a good and responsible father.
3. Always a sexist (Selfish)
When Tony Stark was at first introduced in the MCU, he was shown as a sexist. He always treated women like objects and sexualized those who were around him. He treated Pepper in the same way. It took a lot of time for him to understand that he needs to be a good partner for the girl he loves. Eventually, he realized this responsibility in Iron Man 3 after he almost lost Pepper.
4. Working with Captain America (Proud)
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers’ friendship was tested in Captain America: Civil War. Stark was willing to sign Sokovia Accords since he created Ultron and Rogers wasn’t since the Accords made them being treated like criminals. But they were back together as a team in Avengers: Endgame. Together along with the other Avengers, they fought against the Mad Titan Thanos.
5. Creates Ultron (Selfish)
Creating Ultron was one of the biggest mistakes ever committed by Tony. Ultron was made as a global peacekeeping program but he turned out to be evil. Tony was also stopped by Bruce Banner at first but even Banner failed to convince him. The creation of Ultron led to the loss of many lives in Sokovia along with Wanda’s brother, Pietro Maximoff.
6. Stops the production of weapons in Stark Industries (Proud)
Tony Stark was a billionaire. So there is no doubt that he could easily spend as much as he would want to. But Stark Industries was also selling weapons of war which was actually not a good thing from the view of a superhero. This was actually a wrong step taken by Tony. He eventually stopped the production of weapons at Stark Industries. He faced a near-death experience because of this but still, it was the right thing to do.
7. Tries to kill Bucky Barnes (Selfish)
Tony got into a fight with Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes towards the end of Captain America: Civil War. The reason was that Bucky was involved in the murder of Tony’s parents, Howard and Maria Stark. But Tony did not understand one thing at that time. Barnes did not intentionally kill his parents. Barnes was brainwashed by HYDRA and his mind was under their control. But Tony was not willing to listen to these explanations and tried to kill Barnes.
8. Sacrifices himself to save the world (Proud)
Tony Stark might have been arrogant towards a few people since the beginning. But when it comes to saving the world, he truly cares about the lives of civilians. The Avengers were almost defeated by Thanos who wished to conquer everywhere. But Tony used the Infinity Gauntlet and the Stones to disintegrate Thanos and his army. Unfortunately, the strain of using it kills him. Now Iron Man is a character that is missed by every MCU fan.
9. Initially cared only about himself (Selfish)
Tony Stark has been selfish for most of the time. If you see his earlier MCU movies, you will get to know that he did not care much about the people around him. His behavior was a kind of defense to fight against his own issues. But it is true that he spent his initial years like a small child who cares only about himself. He never cared what people would say about this.
10. Took a nuclear missile through the wormhole (Proud)
Iron Man was named as the true hero only after Avengers: Endgame. Unfortunately, MCU fans forgot that Tony did a similar thing in the past. In 2012’s The Avengers, World Security Council decides to end the Chitauri invasion by launching a nuclear missile at Midtown Manhattan. But Tony intercepts the missile and takes it through the wormhole towards the Chitauri fleet. This ends the invasion. Stark’s suit loses power and he falls down but Hulk saves him.
So these were the most selfish and proudest things done by Iron Man.
