Spider-Man Out of the MCU, Who Bought the Avengers Tower:
Tony Stark turned the Stark Tower into the home of Avengers. It became the Avengers tower, but after that, the headquarters of the Avengers changed. Stark established a new headquarters upstate and sold the Avengers tower to a mystery buyer in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spider-Man: Far From Home was expected to reveal the real owner of this new tower, but Marvel smartly held that revelation back. Perhaps they knew that renegotiation may take place since Disney was about to get their hands upon so many new properties. But then why would they have left the story on a cliffhanger? Perhaps holding back the new owner of the Avengers Tower had some other reason.
Since the tower was bought in a Spider-Man movie, it was highly anticipated that Norman Osborn would have been the new owner of the tower. That means this building would have been the Oscorp Tower. It would have been a set up for Norman Osborn to be a big bad villain of probably the next Avengers movie. Furthermore, Osborn could have later been revealed to be the mystery buyer of Hank Pym’s laboratory as well. But now that Spider-Man is out of the MCU, who exactly did buy the Avengers tower? Here are a few possibilities:
Danny Rand – Rand Enterprises
Since Marvel will be changing their original plans and flushing out any set up for Norman Osborn, Rand Enterprises could actually fill the void as the buyer of the Avengers Tower. In the next 2 years, Marvel will get back the rights to the Defenders. Shang-Chi is already on its way. Using Shang-Chi as a connection, Marvel would easily include a rebooted Iron Fist into the MCU. And, with Danny Rand comes Rand Enterprises. This will totally surprise the Marvel fans, but it will totally depend upon when exactly does Marvel wish to make this big revelation. It seems that they won’t be in a hurry now, this point could stand correct. Danny Rand could then set up the Defenders.
Reed Richards – The Baxter Building
Other than Oscorp, this was the guess of every MCU fanboy. The building either had to be called Oscorp or the Baxter building. In the comics, Walter Collins was the initial owner of the Baxter Building, who rented the top 5 floors to the Fantastic Four. But since the building became a beacon that attracted so many regular attacks, the landlord decided to evict the Sups from the Top few floors. To prevent eviction, Reed Richards later bought the entire building. Since the Fantastic Four may be arriving sooner than later, Reed could be revealed as the new owner of the Avengers tower. But, this concept will entirely depend on how exactly the Fantastic Four get introduced.
Victor Von Doom – Von Doom Industries
With Norman Osborn out of the picture, Marvel should be planning to fast track the introduction of Victor Von Doom aka Doctor Doom. Marvel actually might have an origin story quite ready for him, as Comicbook.com had already laid down his connection to the MCU. Victor Von Doom goes on to become the leader of Latveria, another fictional country just like Sokovia. Now Latveria and Sokovia are generally in the same area. Bulgaria’s southern part is the country that Ultron destroyed, and towards the North is Latveria which is sandwiched between Hungary and Serbia. Now the link between Sokovia to Latveria might be difficult to achieve but it could certainly be done by having the people of both Sokovia and Latveria following Victor Von Doom.
Sokovia was completely obliterated by Ultron, and then Thanos’ Snap could have further put a hold to the redevelopment of the country. So people could look at Victor Von Doom as their new leader who will help them rebuild things in a new light! Victor Von Doom being the owner would continue the same plot that Marvel might have intended for Norman Osborn. Von Doom could actually be the mystery buyer of Hank Pym’s lab, and he may even be the one who was behind the operations of Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War.
Professor X – School for the gifted
Charles Xavier is another insanely rich personality in the Marvel Universe. Perhaps he may have had a profound interest in buying the building. And later, instead of having an X-Mansion, Marvel could actually change things up and turn this tower into the base of the X-Men. It’d be a cool spin on everything we’ve already seen, but people might not be very welcoming of it.
We’ll have to wait and see what exactly Marvel does with this concept of having a new buyer of the Avengers tower. Marvel’s future is huge and there’s a lot that could happen. But until further news updates, here’s how the Phase 4 slate looks for now –
Black Widow on May 1, 2020, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in Fall 2020, The Eternals on November 6, 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021, WandaVision in Spring 2021, Loki in Spring 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021, What If? In Summer 2021, Hawkeye in Fall 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder on November 5, 2021. Following these are Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. Black Panther 2 is also scheduled for May 6, 2022.
