How Doctor Strange 2 Could Change The World War Hulk Narrative in MCU

Doctor Strange 2 is going to be one of the most interesting additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest addition to the franchise is being considered to be responsible for some of the biggest changes in the franchise. There are various theories on how this movie might pave the way for some very interesting developments in the franchise based on the plans for Phase 4. Some of the most commonly said changes to the narrative come from the fact that it will extensively deal with the multiversal chaos that is about to ensue. There is another major event in the MCU that has been going on for a while now i.e. the arc of Hulk. It is predicted that Doctor Strange 2 might change the World War Hulk Narrative in MCU.

The Hulk

World War Hulk

Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk made his debut in the MCU with The Avengers. The actor didn’t get a chance to play the role in a solo film and this has been one of the most talked-about details regarding the character. There was much discussion regarding a trilogy of solo ventures to be made for the character. But these plans were dropped and instead the narrative for the character was made into the various projects he appeared in. Even though the only solo film for the character, The Incredible Hulk was hardly being referenced all these years, some characters from the movie actually started showing up recently.

According to the comics, World War Hulk sees the Hulk going for revenge on the Illuminati after they decided to send him off to space. Even though Hulk did end up going to space, this was quite different from the comics. He went there alone and we got to see a completely different arc playout for the character. But the World War Hulk narrative could still be brought into the MCU with future narratives for the character. If Mark Ruffalo continues to appear in the MCU, this is something that might unfold in the crossover event in Phase 5. The upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk might be setting up this narrative.

Will The World War Hulk Narrative Change?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will cause some major changes in the MCU. Since there is a major chance that Patrick Stewart will be appearing in the movie as Charles Xavier, it means that we might get to see a rendition of the Illuminati in the movie. Based on theories derived from the trailer of the movie, we might get to see Baron Mordo as a part of this Illuminati from the MCU. If this rendition of Illuminati makes it into the movie then it changes everything that we considered about the plans for the Hulk arc and thus sending him to space won’t make any sense at all.

Since this version of Illuminati will focus on issues that surround the multiverse, the actions of Hulk in one universe won’t mean anything at all. Their goal will be towards protecting the multiverse from the chaos that might affect the other universes. Such large-scale events are something that Hulk might not be associated with thus making it a lesser chance for the character to get his World War Hulk narrative here. If Marvel does want to work on this arc, they might have to pick some other character to fill the spot.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theaters worldwide on May 6.
