While Rocket Raccoon may be your favourite and the only surviving Guardian of the Galaxy, he may not stay the same for long. His onscreen survival of the Snap does mean something, and that meaning will probably be illustrated in the comics. In the latest run of Guardians of the Galaxy, the team has been missing Rocket till now. But it seems that they are probably going to lose the Trash Panda for good.
Marvel released a Snippet from “Guardians of the Galaxy #7” earlier today, and according to it, we may see the death of the Raccoon in the coming few weeks. People who have been up to date with the latest run know that Rocket is likely to be found by the team in Issue #4, which comes out next week. So, for the next 3 issues, Rocket could, in fact, have a significant role to play in the scheme of things as he is probably approaching his death. Here’s the photo from Marvel Comics:

Well, Rocket’s suddenly approaching death could actually mean that Marvel is getting us ready for the same to happen in Avengers: Endgame. Although the death of the Raccoon in the pages would happen much later than in Endgame, spreading awareness about it would allow fans to be ready for a scenario like this.
Theories suggest that many of the Avengers who survived the snap could permanently die in the coming film. Rocket was the only Guardian that survived and while we wouldn’t want anyone to be killed off from the team until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, there could be a possibility for Rocket to be killed off in Avengers: Endgame.
His death in the comics obviously doesn’t mean that he will die in the movies too, but it can surely be an indication for that. But given the rumors and reports that we’ve heard about the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we can be sure that Rocket won’t bite the dust, or turn into it by the end of Avengers: Endgame. Guardians Vol.3 is supposed to bring us to the creator of Rocket Raccoon, so he will be a bigger focus in the film, just like Peter Quill was in Vol. 2.
Although Rocket might survive Endgame, there’s no assurance of the fact that he won’t die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After all, he is the only one who hasn’t faced death in the team. Groot has died twice, and the rest of the team has also died once. So, the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may not be happy as the film could be taking us into a darker journey with a bittersweet ending.
We’ll only know for sure with time. For now let’s be ready for the upcoming issues of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and obviously Avengers: Endgame.
