Marvel Fan Points Out a Clever ‘Iron Man 2’ Callback in ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Avengers: Endgame is just weeks away from its release and with the incoming of Captain Marvel in theaters, all the focus has been shifted towards Brie Larson’s debut in the MCU. But, a fan on Reddit has talked about a very clever callback to the movie Iron Man 2. I know, you’re not impressed by hearing this but have a look at the connection for once and I guarantee that you’ll praise this fan right after reading this article.

So, a member of r/MarvelStudios subreddit, a place which is dedicated for the Marvel fans, u/ohnnybags44 has shared,

In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark said,

“I was trying to figure out who a worthy successor would be, and then I realized it’s you. It’s always been you,”

And while recording the message for Pepper Potts in the trailer of Avengers: Endgame, he said,

“When I drift off, I will dream about you. It’s always you.”

Fans started replying and sent their thoughts about the touching comparison. Few of those are down below:

“It was always you’ is to Tony Stark what ‘As you wish’ was too dear old Wesley [in The Princess Bride]. It is him saying ‘I love you’ in a language that only he and Pepper speak,” u/BigLumberingGuy replied.

“I noticed this same exact thing a few weeks ago! Gave me chills!!,” u/musicalmath replied.

Avengers: Endgame will be the last movie in which we’ll see Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. Paltrow talked about her journey in the MCU in an interview and said,

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” she added. “I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Iron Man director, Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”

Avengers: Endgame is going to release on April 26th.
